This position drives the maturity of the AI program, including the design and oversight of policies, frameworks, and best practices for responsible AI development and deployment. This role ensures that AI systems align with ethical principles, regulatory requirements, and organizational values while fostering innovation and mitigating risks. The role works closely with the data organization as well as the broader technology organization and business to propel TruStage’s AI program and AI governance forward. The position focuses on balancing risk management and value delivery to ensure compliance and risk mitigation while unlocking the emerging value of AI in a responsible way.
Job Responsibilities:
AI Governance
- Develop and implement AI governance frameworks, policies, and guidelines to ensure responsible and ethical AI practices.
- Responsible for governance and risk management framework to ensure activities required are completed by cross functional team made up of business and technical stakeholders.
- Monitor and assess regulatory and compliance developments related to AI, machine learning (ML) and data used in AI/ML in collaboration with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure the company remains compliant with global standards for AI (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework).
- Serve as primary point of contact for communicating AI governance-related requirements and updates to the Executive Team, Core Data and Technology team and Business Areas.
- Partner closely with the Technology point person for AI to collaborate and drive a coordinated approach for the AI program at TruStage.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including data scientists and engineers, and legal, risk, compliance, data governance, and ethics teams - to embed AI governance best practices into AI/ML model development and deployment.
- Establish processes for AI risk assessment, bias detection, transparency, accountability, and explainability.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of AI systems to ensure they meet governance, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive internal education and training initiatives on AI governance, ethical AI, and responsible AI use.
- Develop reporting mechanisms and dashboards to track AI governance compliance and risk management.
Project Management
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for AI Governance initiatives and roadmap items.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify impact of AI Governance initiatives.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage resource allocation to ensure efficient project execution.
- Communicate project status updates to various levels of the organization including senior management, key stakeholders in the business, and technology teams.
- Address potential concerns regarding AI ethics and responsible development practices working with key portions of the organization.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, analytics, economics, law, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or related professional work experience.
- 7+ years of experience in the data or technology space with particular focus in AI/data governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of and ability to actively discuss technical concepts with particular experience and interest in AI/ML space
- Knowledge of AI regulations, AI standards, ethical AI principles, and risk management frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex problems and break them down into actionable components.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder management.
- Experience working in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with legal and compliance, data governance, engineering, and business teams.
- Familiarity with AI auditing tools and bias detection methodologies is a plus.

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.
Base Salary Range:
$112,400.00 - $168,600.00
