Role Overview
As the Data Science leader of Coupang’s SCM Autonomation team, you will be responsible for optimizing Coupang’s supply chain performance. Your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Applying state-of-the-art AI Models & methodologies to solve business and operational challenges in the supply chain.
2. Designing and implementing CE forecasting, ordering and inventory management models to achieve optimal inventory health.
3. Advising senior leadership on relevant research impacting our inventory management processes.
4. Leading simulation projects and experiments to support decision-making in supply chain planning.
5. Collaborating with engineering teams to implement algorithms and models into production environments and evaluate outcomes.
6. Working with product owners and stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve supply chain performance.
Qualifications:
1. Ph.D or Master in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with 10 years of relevant work experience.
2. Hands-on experience in designing and implementing algorithms/models (e.g., Dynamic Programming, MIP, KNN, GCN, TiDE, MLP, LGBM, Prophet, LLM, etc.) and meta-heuristics (e.g., genetic algorithms, PSO) to solve practical problems in supply chain at an e-commerce scale.
3. Proven record of converting high-level business requirements into mathematical and simulation models (e.g., Discrete Event Simulation models, Agent-Based Simulation models).
4. Working experience in supply chain management (e.g., inventory management, ordering systems, capacity planning).
5. Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala) to implement models, along with expertise in associated optimization tools (e.g., Cplex, SCIP) and simulation engines (e.g., AnyLogic, Simio).
6. Excellent data query (SQL) and visualization skills (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) with an analytical and statistical mindset to manipulate data in a big data environment.
7. Good communication and presentation skills in English, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
