Job Description

As Z Energy evolves its digital transformation, and becomes increasingly reliant on digital applications, data engineering products and modern enterprise solutions to drive operations, customer interactions, and innovation; data is more important than ever. We are excited to welcome a Kaitaki Pūtaiao Raraunga Data Science Manager to establish and grow data science capabilities, tools, frameworks and encourage data-focused decision making across our business.

Equally important in the role will be guiding, mentoring and coaching our Data Scientists as the team scales. This is a key role within our Data function and will report into our Head of Data.

You will have the opportunity to

  • Develop strategies to build and enhance Data Science capabilities across the organisation, leading hiring and internal upskilling initiatives
  • Define and establish frameworks and best practices for data science projects
  • Guide the development and utilisation of data science models and algorithms keeping with scalability and performance front of mind
  • Collaborate cross functionally to identify opportunities to apply Data Science techniques across the business
  • Identify ongoing innovation and advancement in Data Science technologies and methodologies, incorporating relevant practices into the Z ecosystem
  • Coach and mentor a team of data professionals

Qualifications

What you’ll bring to Z

  • Extensive experience in data science, with a strong background and understanding of machine learning, statistical analysis and data manipulation techniques
  • The ability to develop and execute long-term plans for building, scaling and maturing data science capabilities within an organisation
  • Experience in a commercial and complex organisation
  • A proven ability to coach and mentor people, providing support and development
  • Excellent communication skills to work with a range of stakeholders and influence outcomes effectively
  • Great relationship skills to foster a collaborative culture
  • A proactive approach to both identify and act on opportunities

The base salary range for this role is $151,725 to $178,500 per annum, plus 15% STI based on company performance, a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution and health insurance through
