PeopleCert is looking for a Junior Data Scientist. The successful candidate will work directly alongside data scientists to identify patterns for software optimization, cost reduction, services improvement, data monetization, and market analysis. You will work with key stakeholders such as Sales & Marketing, Finance, and Accounting, Procurement and Logistics, Security, Operations, and Software Development leadership.

As a Junior Data Scientist, your tasks will include the following:

  • Collaborating with business units to fully understand and define the problem scope, establish requirements and suggest solutions.
  • Bringing data products to life by developing, training and evaluating AI models to be integrated into production workflows.
  • Working closely with other data scientists and data engineers to develop scalable solutions and facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Educating key stakeholders on understanding the models and methodologies employed, as well as on interpreting the outcomes.
  • Contributing to the data science roadmap of the AI Engineering team.
  • Staying up to date with the latest best practices in Python programming and software development.
  • Performing code reviews, documenting processes and ensuring our internal wiki is up to date.

What we look for:

  • At least two years of professional experience in predictive analytics, along with applying machine learning techniques in a business context.
  • A BSc or MSc in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
  • Solid experience with the Python ecosystem, its machine learning and data science libraries (sklearn, keras, pandas, numpy) as well as proficiency with version control and relational databases (SQL).
  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their theoretical foundation.
  • Experience in delivering end-to-end projects with clean, reproducible code, detailed comments and comprehensive documentation.
  • Proactive and capable of independently taking initiatives without extensive direction. A problem solver with a strong sense of ownership and emphasis on quality.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and technologies, particularly MS Azure and Databricks will be viewed as an advantage.
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing will be considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies, such as PySpark and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB) as well as REST APIs will be appreciated.
  • Excellent command of the English language.

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

  • If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:
    • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.
    • In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
