We are seeking a Junior Data Scientist with a focus on Data Quality to join our team and support our computer vision projects. In this role, you will contribute to data-driven decision-making by analyzing datasets, developing data quality assurance processes, and generating reports and insights related to the data. This position requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in Python and SQL, and experience with data science workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Disclaimer: While you will collaborate with machine learning engineers and contribute to the preparation of high-quality datasets, this position does not involve designing or training machine learning models.

Data Science & Analysis

  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to assess dataset quality and inform model improvements.
  • Develop and implement methods to identify and correct data inconsistencies or biases.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and visualization to extract insights from datasets.
  • Write SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate data from databases.
  • Utilize Python scripts to automate repetitive data processing and analysis tasks.

Data Quality Assurance

  • Perform visual inspections of the data to identify labeling errors, anomalies, or inconsistencies.
  • Define and track key metrics for evaluating dataset quality (e.g. consistency, bias detection, etc).
  • Conduct systematic quality checks on labeled datasets and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Help in maintaining and refining labeling guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and/or 1+ year of previous experience in similar roles

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Python

    • Knowledge of SQL

    • Experience with tools like Excel and Google Sheets

    • Familiarity with data labeling and annotation processes

  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail with a focus on data quality

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills

    • Effective communication skills for guiding labeling teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory):

  • Previous experience in data quality assurance or dataset curation.
  • Familiarity with data labeling and annotation processes for computer vision.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn).
  • Understanding of common computer vision concepts (e.g., image classification, object detection, and instance segmentation).
