Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Analyst (Journeyman Data Scientist) to join our team in providing comprehensive support for the Department of the Air Force (DAF), which includes the United States Air Force (AF) and United States Space Force (SF). This role is critical in supporting the DAF’s information technology audit remediation, sustainment, and financial statements reporting and analysis. The successful candidate will support various data management and governance initiatives, ensuring data strategies and business cases are effectively implemented. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to enhance data quality, governance, and architecture within the organization.

Data Strategy and Business Case:

• Support collecting and tracking Financial Management (FM) wide initiatives for prioritization and implementation.

Data Governance:

• Create or update Data Governance Charters to support the Data Working Group.

• Develop plans and strategies to implement data standards and improve FM Data Maturity.

• Ensure compliance with authoritative data sources and FM standards.

Data Control Environment:

• Provide data management-related topics and organize, schedule, and host Data Management Team meetings.

• Prepare senior-level draft presentations related to Data Management work.

• Take detailed meeting notes and perform follow-up activities with stakeholders.

Business & Data Architecture:

• Assist in ensuring SAF/FM Data and Product is baselined and inventoried in comprehensive data catalogs.

• Implement common services to publish, search, and discover data.

• Implement metadata standards and maintain data protection, lineage, and pedigree metadata.

Data & Technology Architecture:

• Construct queries and analyze results to recommend system auditability and data maturity.

• Establish metadata frameworks and coordinate data maturity assessments.

Data Quality Management:

• Establish data quality management practices to enhance data quality on FM Portfolio systems.

Data Management Strategy and Business Case:

• Provide data science expertise in structured and unstructured data to deliver enterprise strategies and implementation plans.

Mandatory:

• 6 years of data analytics experience

• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R), data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with the Department of the Air Force or other defense agencies.

• Strong technical expertise in data management and governance.

• Experience in developing and implementing data strategies and standards.
