The objective of the internship is to:

A) optimize and implement supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms to analyze different types of cyber-attacks on various protocols and for both control-plane (header) and user-plane (payload) traffic. The intern must be familiar with network traffic datasets and feature engineering. Also having soid knowldge on adversarial nattacks is needed.

B) work on web-based data visualization of a multi-layer architecture. The architecture utilizes several machine learning algorithms that analyse different types of data (eg. network traffic). Ideally you have worked with data visualization platforms using common programming languages (HTML, Python, Java and CSS) and apply your background experience on front end design to integrate real time analytics from different components in a cloud testing environment.

Your mission will consist in:

  • Implementing a multi-layer ML-based architecture for attack and normal traffic (header and payload) classification/clustering.
  • Feature engineering and ML model optimization.
  • Processing available data input and results output by this architecture
  • Developing a web-based data visualization interface to show real-time analytics given by the architecture.
  • 2nd year Master of Science in computer science, applied mathematics or related fields
  • Practical experience on python programming for data science.
  • Practical experience on supervised and unsupervised algorithms.
  • Knowledge of mobile network traffic protocols.
  • Knowledge of security and cyber-attacks.
  • Having experinece with network traffic analyzer tools such as (Wireshark, Bro/Zeek, ntopng, Elasticsearch_Packetbeat, NetworkMiner and PcapXray)
  • Specialization in front and end web development.
  • Good understanding of design principles (typography, color, layout, etc.)
  • Programming Skills: Java, HTML, CSS and Python
  • Knowledge about Linux
