Syngenta is a cutting-edge agronomy company that innovates continuously in its data collection methods. When developing new varieties, the amount of video data collected is quite big and has to be managed properly. In the Flowers team, we focus onto a data collection thanks to drone imaging that provide a great amount of potential with the right analysis methods.
Collaborating with data scientists, the Flowers team as well as the data owners, you will play a key role in facilitating the data analysis and ensuring that the data collected is fully exploited to understand better the varieties developed and improve the usage of this technology.
Responsibilities
Ensure the data processing is handled properly and efficiently
Ensure the data is thoroughly cleaned with repeatable methods
Conduct crucial data analysis and propose methods to answer key problems
Understand the questions asked by the data specialists and translate that to data science problems
Cooperate with different actors with multiple backgrounds
This position is based in our Toulouse, France
Start date: February/March
The intern will have the opportunity to travel to the facilities in the Netherlands to visit the greenhouses and facilities where the data is collected.
Required qualifications :
Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Data Science/Applied Mathematics/Agronomy but with strong analytical profile
Ability to properly clean and evaluate data quality with big data, implementing solid data pipelines
Ability to Integrate various data sources (databases, APIs, AWS)
Knowledge of key statistical concepts and strong abilities in data analysis
Ability to collaborate and understand the needs of data owners as well translating it to simple views
Strong knowledge in Python and especially pandas, numpy, and AI libraries
Some experience with AI development is preferred
Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and code repositories (GitHub, GitLab)
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
Fluent in English
