Team Description:

The Battery Cell Engineering team’s duties include cell testing, modeling, validation, design/selection, and analytical characterization. We are currently looking to hire an intern for our team for Summer 2025. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

Role/Responsibilities:

• Clean and process battery cycling data
• Manipulate and transform data to extract meaningful features
• Train machine learning model to predict features with transformed data
• Clearly document work and conclusions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency in Python
• Knowledge of basic data science tools and their usage
• Knowledge of basic principles of lithium-ion batteries
• Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude

Nice to Have:

• Experience in machine learning
• Research experience in an electrochemistry or battery lab
• Experience in analyzing large datasets

Education:

• Field(s) of study: Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program at an accredited university
• Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS) 

Program Information: 

• Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules. 
• Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
• Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be office work.
• Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $40 to $60 (subject to changes).
• Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis. 
• Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.  
• Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check. 
• Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen. 
• Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
• Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization. 

Compensation Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.   Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k.
