Intrinsic is Alphabet’s bet aiming to reimagine the potential of industrial robotics. Our team believes that advances in AI, perception and simulation will redefine what’s possible for industrial robotics in the near future – with software and data at the core.

Our mission is to make industrial robotics intelligent, accessible, and usable for millions more businesses, entrepreneurs, and developers. We are a dynamic team of engineers, roboticists, designers, and technologists who are passionate about unlocking the creative and economic potential of industrial robotics.

Role

Are you passionate about democratizing robotics and making cutting-edge technology accessible for all? We are seeking highly motivated and talented interns to join our dynamic team and contribute to the advancement of robotics in an exciting internship opportunity.

As a Motion Control Intern, you will enable modern motion planning and redundancy resolution approaches on industrial robots. Your task is to develop algorithms for the optimization of redundant degrees of freedom in the context of continuous path planning. This will involve exploring and evaluating methods coming from internal and external research to determine their suitability for industrial use cases. Furthermore, you will have the exciting opportunity to test your developed algorithms and solutions in our robotics lab, allowing you to witness firsthand the practical applications of your work.

How your work moves the mission forward

  • Explore (global and local) redundancy optimization methods for continuous path planning
  • Contribute to our motion planning stack in the field of continuous-path applications
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced professionals in modern software development practices
  • Develop demonstrations on industrial robots.

Skills you will need to be successful

  • Master’s or PhD student in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or another field related to automation and robotics.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in modern software development languages, preferably C++
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following topics related to robot motion planning: sampling-based planners, numerical inverse kinematics, constraint-based programming
  • Interest in applying modern robotics research on production-ready industrial robots.
  • Enthusiasm to work with robot hardware.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

At Intrinsic, we don't just accept difference - we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products and our community.
