The Head of Data & AI/ML Engineering (Practice Lead) will be responsible for guiding the strategic development and application of Data and AI/ML Engineering practices within the organization.

This role involves leading a team of experts, setting strategy, best practices, and ensuring the successful implementation of cloud native, data-driven and AI/ML initiatives that ultimately enable frictionless and meaningful customer experiences and deeper insights.

The Practice Leader will play a crucial role in shaping a data-centric culture, the role data plays in our modern architecture vision and delivering business value through advanced analytics and AI/ML solutions

  • Work together with the architecture team to design the modern vision for our data architecture across our various businesses to enable business outcomes and a roadmap to achieving this.
  • Develop and guide the implementation of a comprehensive data and AI/ML engineering practice strategy aligned with enabling this modern data architecture and vision and the company's business goals
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, AI/ML and automation engineers ensuring the practice contains the right capabilities and experience and enable continuous learning towards up to date skills.
  • Continuously improve the operating model on how the practice delivers optimising proximity to customer, efficiency and platform foundations
  • Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of scalable data infrastructure and pipelines
  • Support the development and deployment of AI/ML models and algorithms to solve complex business problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize AI/ML use cases

  

Important to your success - let's grow together   

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with active demonstration of ensuring skills and capabilities are kept up to date
  • Multiple years in data engineering & AI/ML engineering leadership roles, including people leadership, program delivery and practice management.
  • A proven track record of success in execution of large data platform delivery programs and meeting defined goals and objectives.
  • Experience with data tooling and technologies is essential.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and cloud native data platforms (Snowflake preferred)
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in ML, deep learning, NLP, and LLM frameworks and technologies e.g Sagemaker, Textract, Comprehend, and Lambda
  • Preference will be given to candidates and/or Automation/RPA (UI Path, MS Power Platform)
  • In-depth knowledge of methodologies and practices e.g., Agile, DevSecOps, , Data/MLOps etc.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry preferred.
