The Opportunity

We are recruiting a Business Relationship Manager to join the Global Data Science & Analytics (GDSA) team within Abbott Medical Devices.  This role will support the development and implementation of various data science projects executed by the GDSA team in Mumbai, India.

The GDSA team is a group of data scientists and engineers who deliver data science solutions to internal stakeholders.  This team uses machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical modeling, data mining, and visualization techniques to provide analytics solutions to a wide range of challenging projects related to Abbott’s life-saving medical technologies.  We leverage a wide variety of healthcare data, including health insurance claims, internal Abbott device data, and Electronic Health Records (EHR).

The primary function of this role is to direct data science projects conducted by GDSA. The Business Relationship Manager must understand business needs (e.g., Marketing, Commercial/Sales, Clinical) and work with the scientists/engineers to design and execute projects to meet those needs.

This position will work on-site at one of our locations in St. Paul, MN, Maple Grove, MN or Plano, TX.

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop, plan, coordinate and direct data science projects (of medium complexity) across multiple locations that are of major scope and importance. Manage multiple, often concurrent projects and meet expectations.
  • Understand medical device business needs/perspective (e.g., Marketing, Commercial/Sales, Clinical) and articulate these needs to other stakeholders (e.g., data scientists, IT).  Assure that data science projects effectively address businesses’ long and short-term business goals.
  • Communicate data science results to internal and external audiences, including senior management. Prepare and present written and oral reports. Adjust presentation style and content to suit the audience.
  • Interact well with diverse groups and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. Listen to and understand others’ points of view and articulate tactfully and respectfully one’s own and others’ perspectives orally, in writing, and in presentations.
  • Interface with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or technical discipline OR an equivalent combination of education or work experience.  
  • Proven working experience in product development, project management and/or business process implementation.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and alignment
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Process-oriented thinking, focused on continuous improvement and lessons learned; have demonstrated the ability to define and implement complex and interdependent business processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • 5 years’ experience in medical devices or health care analytics, including experience with a global company.
  • Innovative thinker with analytical problem-solving skills. Experience working in data science/analytics, particularly with insurance claims data a plus.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing project initiatives across multiple functions and/or business units.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business model.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Adept at data visualization: understanding the best ways to communicate data results and use data to tell a story. 
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment -- multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong project management, team skills, and influential management.
  • Knowledge of medical claims billing/coding a plus.
  • Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner and meeting assigned deadlines.

$72,700.00 – $145,300.00
