The Texas Consortium for Computational Seismology (TCCS) and Quantitative Clastics Laboratory (QCL) seek a joint-sponsored geology and geophysics postdoctoral researcher appointed to the Jackson School of Geoscience Bureau of Economic Geology. Candidates with strong quantitative and computational backgrounds, as well as some experience interpreting subsurface geology and geophysical data, are invited to apply. Specifically, the TCCS and QCL aim to work with a postdoctoral researcher to develop machine learning algorithms for subsurface, primarily seismic, interpretation.

Responsibilities
Develop machine learning algorithms for subsurface, primarily seismic, interpretation
Subsurface interpretation
Compiling results, writing peer-reviewed papers, formal presentations of findings
PhD in a related field
Demonstrated computer programming skills
Knowledge of deep learning and generative artificial intelligence models
Interpretation of subsurface geology and geophysical data
General knowledge/familiarity with clastic depositional systems
Written publication and oral presentation record
PhD must have been obtained within 3 years of date of hire.

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.----
