Meet the team:

Join the Component Enablement Team, where we design, develop, build and deliver tools and processes to enable the Component Teams to efficiently drive the development of the components through the component suppliers. In close cooperation with the component teams, we deliver the necessary tools to validate and verified against system level and component requirements and aligned to best-in class functional safety and cyber-security standards. Your role will make a significant impact on the future of trucking and autonomous technology as we look to Drive the Future of Freight. We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager who is enthusiastic about people leadership, software engineering and hardware product development / validation. In this role, you will lead a team of approximately 7 software / systems engineers, interface with automotive suppliers and stakeholders, and ensure overall alignment between the hardware components and the system goals.

What you’ll do:

The Engineering Manager on the Component Enablement team will oversee responsibility for key components of Torc’s product platform in a results driven environment. The manager must ensure organizational alignment with Torc’s larger focus of being the world’s leading autonomous trucking solution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate processes for the delivery of scalable and high-quality components / products for autonomous driving vehicles and support systems.
  • Collaborate with other management and teams as needed to meet goals, monitor team performance, and achieve objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding the software technical domain of the Component Enablement team.
  • Accountable and responsible for career development and coaching of the team.
  • Accountable and responsible for performance management of the team.
  • Accountable and responsible for ensuring continuous performance feedback is delivered and compensation analysis in close collaboration with peer managers and People Operations.
  • Responsible for managing a team with existing system and/or defined strategy. Leads a team of engineers that are tasked with building or solving difficult technical problems. Responsible for the quality of work, accuracy, record keeping, standards and ensuring a basic level of compliance.
  • Responsive to others and able to effectively collaborate to meet established standards, compliance requirements, implementation, and service delivery schedules.
  • Demonstrated functional knowledge of business area and demonstrates results of ongoing learning and professional development. Ability to effectively manage people and identify opportunities to develop staff experience and expertise.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or engineering equivalent & 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of Engineering Management Experience
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated leader of software engineering acting as an advisor to other leaders on relevant trends and emerging issues.
  • Ability to effectively manage a team of technical professionals and identify opportunities to grow and develop the team.
  • Ability to evangelize best practices and promote consistent standards including test automation, observability, and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to automotive electronics.
  • Experience dealing with internal cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Experience with engineering requirements validation and product development.
  • Willingness and ability to work across teams, geographies and time zones.

Bonus Points!

  • Experience with ISO 26262 standards, ASPICE, or autonomous vehicles.
  • Knowledge or experience in safety-critical systems and applications.
  • Experience leading teams that work with complex hardware / software validation.
