Job Description:Shield AI’s mission is to protect the lives of service members and civilians with intelligent systems. The Hardware Test Engineering team contributes to this effort by designing test solutions that drive high hardware reliability on our V-BAT vehicle. These solutions are in-house designed electrical and mechanical equipment used to perform component and system-level testing, both at ambient and in simulated harsh environmental conditions. In this role, you will design test PCBs, use Python to automate test sequences, use various COTS electrical equipment to design test fixtures, and gain experience with HASS, ESS, and HALT testing. Help us save lives as we strive to deliver the most highly reliable aerospace hardware in the industry.
What you'll do:
Own requirements gathering, design, and validation of multiple test stands used to test components and subsystems on V-BAT.
Gain expertise in multiple disciplines within EE as you design test systems for power electronics, communications, RF, and more.
Design simple to moderately complex PCBs that interface between the test stand and the device-under-test (DUT).
Design test stands and test fixtures, which may include relays, PLCs, PCBAs, harnessing, and various other pieces of electrical and mechanical equipment.
Use Python to create fully automated test sequences.
Contribute to and attend cross-functional design reviews. Advocate for design changes that result in simpler testing processes.
Other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; or equivalent work experience
Mastery of fundamental engineering concepts, including EE, Mech E, Programming, Physics, and Mathematics.
Experience working on multidisciplinary hardware development projects, which can be from an internship, job, club, team, personal project, etc…
Demonstrated history of showing ownership of project outcomes and delivering exceptional results.
Record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with Python or any scripting language.
Experience with PCB schematic and layout tools, including Altium, KiCAD, Eagle, etc…
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, etc…
Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and the ability to innovate under pressure to meet dynamic project demands and drive successful outcomes.
