Job Description

As a Director (People Manager) in Data and AI Platform, you will manage the GenAI Knowledge Assets development team based in Bangalore, India where you will be responsible and accountable for end-to-end development for Knowledge Management for GenAI. You will be unleashing new opportunities at Visa by 1) developing and driving the business strategy for AI / Gen AI and building Knowledge management orchestration to elevate GenAI applications in Visa, leading data product development to create value for clients and partners for AI Governance, GenAI Data Assets. This position will be responsible for day-to-day management of a team mix of Software and Data engineers and will contribute to the development process.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for end-to-end software engineering aspects of design, development, testing and deployment for Knowledge Management for GenAI and platform capabilities to support Visa’s GenAI applications to elevate them with knowledge management metadata repository, taxonomy and governance to knowledge base repositories along with product innovations and technical initiatives.

  • Lead the establishment of clear, evergreen framework to categorize and index all Visa documents (across various enterprise-wide platforms) for the right audiences through internal AI applications. 

  • Define a structured approach to addressing the component parts of our document framework, formulate relevant hypotheses and supporting project work steps 

  • Champion a document stewardship program to support Visa’s productivity goals 

  • Drive effective implementation and evolution of go-forward document governance for access and use based on document content, confidentiality, and access requirements. 

  • Create a world-class team of engaged professionals excited to write the next chapter of Visa’s AI & Data Innovation. 

  • Responsible for technical capabilities of the product and the platform in terms of data design/architecture, UI/UX design/architecture, and API based backend systems.

  • Integration of various Data scanning and Taxonomy tools for Comprehensive semantic data integration, taxonomy management, ontology management, text mining, semantic search and analytics.

  • Create and promote an agile development culture in his or her team focused on Engineering Excellence with high quality code development and deployment to production.

  • Work with geographically distributed teams on technical challenges and process improvements.

  • Drive the strong automate everything culture with proven and open source-based technologies, frameworks, and best practices to reduce complexity and encourage operational excellence to the team.

  • Engage and communicate with stakeholders of business, product, technology, operations, and customer success teams.

People Management:

  • Build and maintain a high performing team, hire and retain the right talent in the right role.

  • Manage development resources across multiple technologies including VectorDB, Neo4J, Java/Spring Boot/API backend, Python, HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Angular and other Open-Source technologies.

  • Design and develop highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems using multiple technologies.

  • Work collaboratively with senior management, architecture, and senior development staff to develop broadly acceptable solutions.

  • Take complete responsibility of the full life cycle of projects and oversee software release implementations when required.

  • Partner with Technical Product Management and Global Data Office Product team to identify clear business requirements

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience


Preferred Qualifications
15 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
15+ years of work experience including 7+ years of management and 5+ years of Product Development and architecture experience with deep technology expertise in the following:
• Strong leadership and team player, including mentoring/growing junior people.
• Strong at technical goal setting for a project with actionable success metrics. Good knowledge and experience on measuring a service from user experience angle.
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with a deep understanding of end-to-end software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
• Strong on driving for results and self-motivated, strong learning mindset, with good understanding of related advanced/new technology.
• Keep up with the technology development in the related areas in the industry, which could be leveraged to enhance current architectures and build durable new ones.
• Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills, including ability to effectively communicate architectural issues and concepts to multiple organization levels and executive management.
• Strong problem-solving skills to deep dive, brainstorm, and choose best solution approach.
• Advanced knowledge of AI / Generative AI / Data Science.
• Have hands-on experience using languages such as Java, Python or Golang. Strong on elegant and quality coding, can write very solid prototypes or core components quickly.
• Experience in leading teams that have built full stack applications from the ground-up using modern micro-service technologies like Java Spring Boot, REST API Gateway, front-end technologies such as Angular, ReactJS, AI/ML technologies.
• Expert in developing large scale, enterprise class distributed system or subsystems that require high availability, low latency, & strong data consistency computing.
Authority in architecting solutions with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in mind
• Experience in DevSecOps world - Github/Git, CI/CD Pipelines, Jenkins, Security Tools, Kubernetes/VMs/Linux, Monitoring, Alerting, etc.
• Strong proponent of Innovation and open-source contributions.
• Payment industry experience (preferred)
