Then you should join the agile and successful AI, Advanced Analytics and Autonomy group as a Data Scientist (m/f/d).

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that implements data science use cases that make a real difference in all areas of the company, be it production, supply chain, support processes or others. The core task of the team is to independently develop end-to-end AI solutions for Covestro. Your colleagues will be Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and AI Consultants. The use cases will be implemented in close cooperation with experts from different areas.

Your tasks and responsibilities in detail:

• You will identify and develop data science use cases that bring business value to Covestro

• You are responsible for the implementation of data science use cases in various areas such as production, sales/marketing and finance. This requires close collaboration with colleagues from the business units and from Machine Learning Engineering

• You will play a crucial role throughout the entire lifecycle of data science products, including exploratory data analysis, development and implementation of prototypes, minimum viable products (MVP) and minimum marketable products (MMP), as well as in supporting the products in the operational phase

• Specifically for each of your use cases, you will be responsible for selecting and optimizing suitable methods from the fields of statistical modeling, machine learning and artificial intelligence

• In close cooperation with the Machine Learning Engineers, you will actively contribute to defining requirements for the data processing architecture and technology

• In addition, you will select and evaluate proposals from external solution providers and consulting companies in terms of their effectiveness and usefulness

WHAT YOU OFFER

• You have a university degree (preferably Master's or PhD) in mathematics, physics, statistics, data science or a related field and have several years of experience in data science in an international environment and with virtual teams

• You are fluent in R or Python and have experience with machine learning frameworks such as tidymodels, mlr3, sklearn, H2O and TensorFlow You are familiar with random forests, deep learning, LLMs, timeseries forecasts and Bayesian modeling

• You have some experience with cloud technologies, preferably with AWS

• The ability to present to colleagues from different departments and hierarchical levels, to explain issues simply and to convince colleagues is one of your most important skills

• You feel comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced working environment

• You are fluent in written and spoken English and willing to travel internationally
