The Position:

We are looking for a recent graduate with a passion for data analytics to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be eager to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges, contributing to our data-driven projects and gaining valuable industry experience. The Data Scientist role is a key position designed to understand Walbec's business processes and incorporate data analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies into them. This role involves collaboration with various company departments, including IT, Senior Leadership, Engineering & Operations, and Technical Services teams. Additionally, it offers the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment, working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of exciting projects.

Data Collection & Preparation:

  • Collect data from various internal and external sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and APIs.
  • Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Identify and rectify data discrepancies and anomalies.

Data Analysis:

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to understand data distributions and relationships.
  • Apply statistical techniques to analyze data and extract meaningful insights.
  • Conduct hypothesis testing and predictive modeling to support business objectives.

Reporting & Visualization:

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Create visually appealing and easy-to-understand charts, graphs, and presentations to communicate findings.
  • Present insights and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Data Management:

  • Maintain data integrity and security by following best practices and company policies.
  • Document data processes, methodologies, and findings for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures.

Collaboration & Project Management:

  • Work closely with various departments, including marketing, finance, and operations, to understand their data needs.
  • Collaborate with IT analysts to design and implement data solutions.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to address business challenges and opportunities.
  • Establish project scope, requirements and potential timelines.
  • Manage project work and tasks and maintain established timelines.

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Internship or project experience in data analytics or related field is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
