The Opportunity

As a Data Scientist / Data Engineer you will be responsible for delivering high quality outcomes by applying the right fit-for purpose solutions in collaboration with other stakeholders and team members within the same business line. 

RSS is a global division with regional presence in Switzerland, India, Hungary, Costa Rica and Malaysia. As a Data Scientist / Data Engineer, you will be expected to 

  • Apply specific fit-for-purpose methods and implement analytics and processing algorithms.

  • Onboard data into Snowflake and database systems and implement data loads and data analysis; incl. backend development in SQL.

  • Operationalize models leveraging AWS micro services and set up optimal architectures for the data science projects in AWS.

  • Support projects independently, partnering with business stakeholders to ensure business needs are met.

  • Partner with colleagues, peers and stakeholders globally, and work on initiatives and projects in different regions.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with other departments/groups across Roche to help identify synergies and streamline redundancies.

  • Create and manage documentation for different data science / data engineering projects. 

  • Collaborate in an agile and cross-functional team with other Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Automation experts as well as business experts, so our Roche peers and patients will receive AMAZING solutions.

  • Performs demos, project reviews, and retrospectives; communicates ideas for team Analytics & Automation and willingly receives feedback for self-improvement

  • Participate in exploratory projects to evaluate new technologies and establish new services.

  • Embrace new ways of working with fast iterations, lean documentation and planning, close alignment to our colleagues from business and IT and  close communication across global teams.

Who you are

You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.

  • Education: Bachelor Degree (Masters is a plus) in mathematics, computer science, statistics, engineering, or information science. 

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a multicultural environment with global processes (Commercial, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT)

  • Professional work experience in: 

    • Designing and developing data flows and ETL processes using modern storage solutions (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery). 

    • Applying advanced statistical methods and machine/deep learning algorithms to real world data.

  • Professional work experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, SQL, JavaScript, dbt. 

  • Strong team player with interpersonal skills and strong collaborative and solution-focused mindset. 

  • Strong communication, networking skills, someone who enjoys working with others and acts as a team player.

  • Solid experience with stakeholder management.

  • English is a must, additional languages are a plus.
