About the Team:

The data science team at the Enterprise Business Services Pillar at Walmart Global Tech focuses on using the latest research in machine learning, statistics, and optimization to solve business problems. We mine data, distill insights, extract information, build analytical models, deploy machine learning algorithms, and use the latest technology to empower business decision-making. Additionally, we work with engineers to build reference architectures and machine learning pipelines in a big data ecosystem to productize our solutions. Advanced analytical algorithms driven by our team help Walmart optimize business operations, improve business practices, and change the way our customers shop.

The data science community at Walmart Global Tech is active in most hack events, utilizing the petabytes of data at our disposal to build some of the coolest ideas. All the work we do at Walmart Labs will eventually benefit our operations and our associates, helping customers save money and live better.

What you'll do:

  • Manage a team of data science and machine learning engineers to develop and deploy traditional data science and Gen AI applications supporting the Walmart finance department. Build models that solve specific business outcomes by training with massive amounts of Walmart data utilizing open-source or in-house tools.
  • Grow a team of domain experts in Agentic AI, Gen AI, Classical ML, Timeseries Forecasting, and recommendation systems in Finance-Technology.
  • Drive execution of developing models and systems.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with clients and peer teams to facilitate cross-functional projects.
  • Remain up to date on ongoing research and development activities in the team.
  • Work with data scientists to design, architect, and build AI/ML/DL models and model systems.
  • Work with machine learning engineers to deploy, operate, and optimize scalable solutions.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in Agentic AI, LLMs, Timeseries, and Traditional ML techniques.
  • (Preferred) Experience in data science and machine learning for finance.
  • Experience in managing a mid-size internal team of data scientists and MLEs.
  • Experience leading and completing cross-functional projects.
  • Strong organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail and results-oriented with a sense of urgency.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
