Syensqo has decided to create a startup team, Syensqo.ai, dedicated to the AI and Generative AI domain. By taking this role, the Data Science Lead will join this team right at its inception. Its mantra is simple: deliver value in a fast fashion, with speed, and agility while taking no compromise on compliance, ethics, guardrails, or regulations.
The Data Science Lead will contribute to the growth and development of this startup while keeping a very sharp focus on the delivery of prioritized items. In the current business, macroeconomic, and climate crisis context, time of execution will be of the essence.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future technology landscape to develop our product portfolio by contributing to the development of the AI / Gen AI Corporate Platform, leading a Data Science Team, and governing the Data Science domain for the Group.
Work closely with various stakeholders, including business teams, product development teams, and corporate stakeholders to ensure that our AI solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with our business objectives.
Your expertise will drive the adoption of best AI development and deployment practices, fostering innovation and excellence.
Main outputs:
AI Solutions Implementation:
Lead the development of AI and Generative AI models and solutions using Machine/Deep Learning and Generative AI technologies.
Build and train production grade Machine Learning models on large-scale datasets to solve various business use cases for industry purposes.
Use large-scale data processing for feature engineering and be proficient across various data both structured and unstructured.
Apply data mining techniques, and statistical analysis, and build high-quality prediction systems integrated with products.
Oversee data acquisition, processing, quality assurance, and feature generation, both from internal and external sources.
Provide a deep understanding of the data and how to produce insight and develop AI solutions from it.
Design AI solutions, analyze state-of-the-art approaches, propose various methods, and define experimental designs and benchmarks.
Corporate AI Platform Development:
Participate in the definition and implementation of the Corporate AI Platform, aligning with the end-to-end AI and Generative AI solution development lifecycle.
Define core capabilities and requirements for the platform, providing feedback for improvements and debugging.
Proactively identify new requirements and keep abreast of the latest advancements in AI technology.
Innovation and Research:
Stay informed on industry trends and technological advancements to foster innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Continuously explore state-of-the-art AI technologies and breakthrough approaches.
Lead and supervise experimentation to ensure innovative and effective solutions.
Delivery Oversight:
Coordinate project workstreams, overseeing the execution to ensure timely delivery according to plan.
Guarantee that project deliveries meet quality standards and performance expectations.
Team Leadership:
Supervise AI project deliveries, ensuring adherence to established standards and practices.
Lead and mentor the Data Science team in the design, development, and implementation of complex and challenging projects in advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI.
Facilitate ongoing education and training for team members to enhance skills in line with evolving AI technologies and methodologies.
Practice Leadership:
Define and evolve the data science governance, methodologies, and best practices for AI solution development and deployment within the organization.
Lead and mentor the Data Science community in the Group, ensuring coherence, focus, and adherence to the methodologies and best practices.
Drive the adoption of new tools and techniques to enhance the productivity and capabilities of the AI community.

You will bring:
Education & Technical Expertise
Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Formal training or certification in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related fields.
Proven experience in designing and implementing AI solutions, with a deep understanding of Statistics, Machine/Deep Learning, and generative AI technologies.
Strong hands-on experience in the AI & ML lifecycle - feature engineering, training, validation, scaling, deployment, scoring, monitoring, and feedback loop.
Expertise in Python with and the ability to write performant production-quality code, familiarity with SQL, and knowledge of Spark and cloud data environments (e.g. Azure, Databricks).
Experience building and scaling machine learning models in business applications using large amounts of data.
Familiarity with AI development platforms, frameworks, and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-Learn, LangChain, Hugging Face, …
Knowledge and practical experience with large language models (LLMs), vector databases, and techniques such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
Experience with Salesforce and SAP is a plus.

You will get:
The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $162,000 to $203,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
