Academic Year Recruitment Timeline:

Academic Year Internship Program:

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 
  

  • Peacock Consumer Insights: The Peacock Consumer Insights Team supplies insights in support of strategic objectives to stakeholders across the organization, including the Content Strategy, Content Development & Marketing teams. As an intern on our team, you will be exposed to a variety of quantitative and qualitative primary research methodologies and gain experience in analyzing the output to provide actionable insights for the business. 

  • Measurement Operations: The Measurement Operations team utilizes new data measurement approaches, advanced analytics & tools, in order to present unified measurement of data across the media landscape, as well as analytics and insights across the NBCU brands. The Measurement Operations team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of ratings that power billions in business across NBCU by managing programs, program details, schedules, and affiliate lineups that are utilized in the creation of Nielsen ratings. The intern’s role will be to assist our team with submitting schedule information for NBC Broadcast, Entertainment cable networks, Peacock and VOD to Nielsen and other 3rd party vendors to ensure programming is reported accurately.  The intern will also assist with ad hoc measurement projects. 

  • Peacock Product Analytics, Experimentation: We are seeking an Intern to help support our Experimentation efforts across multiple Product teams (Viewing, Commerce, Personalization, and Editorial). With the vast amount of content available from NBCUniversal and the ever-evolving and fast-paced product development of Peacock, we will need a smart and capable individual to support the A/B and multivariate testing lifecycle, spanning from sifting through large amounts of data for insights into experimentation, generating informed hypotheses and objectives for data-informed prioritization, designing and conducting tests for statistical significance in continuous and iterative optimization, to analyzing testing results and presenting data-driven actions to a multifunctional team of stakeholders in business and technology. 

  • Peacock Data Product Management: As part of the Data Product Management under NBCU Media Group Decision Sciences, our mission is to empower data-driven decisions with single-point access to integrated data on a unified technology stack, accelerating insights and enhancing efficiency. As a Data Product Management Intern, you will adopt and champion a “data-as-a-product” mindset, working alongside experienced professionals to develop, enhance, and deploy data products that drive actionable insights and value for our organization and internal clients. You will be exposed to, and learn what it takes to own, manage and grow a data product platform. 

  • Media Group Data Engineering: The Media Group Data Engineering team is the “last mile of data delivery” for the Media Group Decision Sciences organization. We support a robust data ecosystem across AWS and GCP enabling data science, advanced analytics, and automated reporting to operate the NBCUniversal media business. The intern will get to design, build, test, scale and maintain data pipelines from a variety of source systems and streams. They’ll also get to continually work on improving the codebase and have active participation in all aspects of the team! Most excitingly, the intern will get to learn data engineering best practices, striving towards excellence and raising the bar within the department.  

  • Peacock Media Analytics: Unlike a traditional internship, the Decision Sciences Media Analytics Internship in Peacock embeds future data experts in ongoing projects within the organization and gives the ability to learn a variety of analytic techniques that are used heavily by the business. They become active members of existing teams working on high-impact analytics, owning specific responsibilities, goals and timelines which directly support the broader goals of Peacock Decision Sciences and Performance and Brand Marketing. Upon completion, Interns will have gained real-world problem-solving experience in a high-visibility and fast-paced media environment. They will have learned the fundamentals of marketing a product in its infancy, from KPI measurement to broad strategic initiatives throughout the marketing funnel. Finally, they will have tangible impact on Peacock’s growth and success in the streaming landscape. 

  • Media Group Data Science: Our Data Science program is designed to provide interns with real-world experience working on projects on a typical Data Science environment, using state of the art tools and technologies, while gaining broad exposure to the media industry. Interns will acquire specific responsibilities, goals, and timelines aligned with the teams they are embedded in. Join us as we collaborate across our business to support and inform data-enhanced strategic decisions. The intern will get to assist with research & development to inform new methodologies, implement predictive and inferential statistical and/or machine learning models, contribute to the development of tools and data pipelines, and develop interactive visualizations that communicate complex ideas. 

  • Syndication Studios & Affiliate Relations, Content Analytics: NBC Universal Syndication Studios produces and distributes such shows as Access Hollywood and The Kelly Clarkson Show, and the research department is responsible for informing producers and executives about their performance in the ratings and on streaming platforms.  We also support the NBC-affiliated stations across the country with information and insights about the performance of our programming in local markets. A knowledge of the ratings is extremely beneficial for anyone seeking a career on the business side of television.  This internship is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain real world experience across a broad range of platforms including national and local TV measurement. 

  • Cable Entertainment & Sports, Content Analytics: The Decision Sciences Content Analytics team acts as the main source of data and insights on all things Entertainment and Sports, both on Linear TV and Peacock, providing program performance tracking, audience demographics, forecasting, business and brand strategy, portfolio optimization, and all forms of research-based guidance. The team works closely with many groups across the business including marketing, programming, production, finance, and ad sales. An intern supporting our group will be an integral part of how we report performance data for all our programs and sports properties to key stakeholders, utilizing multiple data management and analytics tools in their day-to-day. The internship will offer in-depth training on TV ratings and audience research, including involvement in various cross-platform projects, and ownership over various weekly and daily reporting. 

  • Social/Digital Syndication and Streaming, Content Analytics: The Decision Sciences Content Analytics team acts as the main source of data and insights on all things Entertainment and Sports, both on Linear TV and Peacock, providing performance tracking, audience demographics, forecasting, business and brand strategy, portfolio optimization, and all forms of research-based guidance. The team works closely with many groups across the business including marketing, programming, production, finance, and ad sales. This internship will support the Social and Digital Research team that oversees reporting for NBCUniversal’s daytime syndicated series, including Access Hollywood, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Karamo, and The Steve Wilkos Show. The intern will also assist the Peacock Analytics team, which supports reporting for Peacock Originals and shared entertainment content across the NBCU portfolio, including NBC and Bravo. This opportunity is ideal for detail-oriented, analytical students with a passion for the media industry and a desire to learn more about digital and streaming analytics. It offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience working with data to uncover insights that inform content strategy across digital and social platforms. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: 

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2025 through April 2026). December 2025 graduates are not eligible for our 2025-2026 Academic Year Internship Program. 
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States. 
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 15, 2025 – April 17, 2026.  
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY. 

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.  

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.   

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
  • Statistics knowledge and experience required; ability to conduct advanced statistical analysis like factor or conjoint analysis is a plus but not required. 
  • Experience with a statistical analysis tool like R, SPSS and/or survey analysis software like Marketsight, Alchemer, or SurveyMonkey preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Nielsen systems & applications. 
  • Familiar with statistical skills in applying hypothesis testing, calculating critical value, defining p-value, and using z-test, t-test, ANOVA, or chi-square test. 
  • Proficiency of at least one programming language for data analysis (i.e., Python, R) and cloud-based relational SQL database management systems (e.g., Google Cloud Platform BigQuery). 
  • Familiarity or experience setting up tests with A/B/N testing tools (e.g., Optimizely, Apptimize, Adobe Target, Split), experimental design and practical application of same techniques. 
  • Some knowledge of digital analytics platforms (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics), data management platforms (e.g., mParticle), and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo). 
  • Familiarity or experience querying data in data warehouse systems (e.g., AWS, Snowflake, BigQuery). 
  • Working knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: R, Python, Julia, Java, Scala or similar. 
  • Experience working on Cloud Platforms: GCP, AWS, Azure, etc. 
  • Proficient in containerization (preferably Docker) and workflow orchestration technologies (preferably Airflow & Kubernetes). 
  • Experience in API development. 
  • Experience with Spark (preferably Databricks). 
  • Knowledge of TV Ratings, Nielsen, or data visualization tools like Tableau preferred. 
  • Affinity for numbers & ability to digest large data sets - especially with ratings and viewership data. 
  • Genuine curiosity about social media platforms and how content performs and engages audiences across different channels. 

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00. 

The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $35.00.
