The Team

Milliman’s Mountain Gulf Health Practice consists of fifty-two actuarial professionals, healthcare consultants, IT, and administrative professionals. We are a group of highly self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals. Our practice has developed expertise in a variety of business areas, which means we are always working on new and interesting challenges related to the healthcare field and actuarial profession.

Responsibilities and Objective

 Lead projects from an actuarial and/or data science perspective

  • Providing strategic insights
  • Developing business
  • Enhance data analytics capabilities in the practice
  • Use actuarial knowledge in conjunction with data science skills to ensure that the chosen solution is actuarially sound, and to answer actuarial questions posed by data scientist team members
  • Peer review other’s work product
  • Process data for predictive models and visualization
  • Develop tools and code to be used by others
  • Assist in R&D and marketing efforts to grow the business

What We Are Looking For

 Professional Qualifications

  • A college degree in a STEM related discipline such as actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, computer science, or other quantitative field,
  • ASA
  • 10+ years’ experience in healthcare, insurance, or a related field
  • Proficient in SAS programming
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Data Modeling and Analysis
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies
  • Experience with Machine Learning
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, and Git, and SaaS support
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize, explore, and manipulate large data sets
  • Proven project management and consulting skills
  • Superior problem-solving capabilities and desire to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship from Milliman presently or in the future. Milliman’s Mountain Gulf Health does not allow for sponsorship in order to maintain or obtain an employment authorizing status/visa or other form of employment authorization in order to legally work in the United States.

Location

 The Mountain Gulf Health Practice operates under one management group across five locations – Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco. Candidates hired into this role may work remotely anywhere in the US or onsite in select locations where we have physical office space if they prefer.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $243,000, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
