We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Computer Vision Research Engineer to join our team to strengthen our R&D department in Lund, to push the boundaries of technology and to explore the unexplored in the fields of Entertainment, Sports, XR and more. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, a curiosity for recent-most approaches to 2D/3D computer vision approaches, and an in-depth understanding of foundation models and their various applications. You will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research and development in the field of computer vision and developing innovative solutions to complex problems. 

You will be asked to take initiative, implement innovative ideas, challenge and move things forward, and not be afraid of trying and experimenting. You will have opportunities to be recognized and have influence broadly throughout the global Sony R&D community. 

You will work in a team of highly skilled and experienced research engineers with a passion for technology and innovation. You are a good team player who puts the team first and believes a good team spirit is the key to success. 

 

You will: 

  • Conduct innovative R&D in real-time 2D/3D sensing and capture systems, including but not limited to architecture design and methodology design. 

  • Be self-motivated and capable of proposing and implementing innovative ideas. 

  • Deep understanding of fundamental and most recent 2D/3D computer vision models and various applications, such as detection and tracking, scene and motion understanding, 3D reconstruction, etc. 

  • Contribute to library and tool development to support research and business. 

  • Write reports and give internal presentations. 

 

 You have: 

  • Master's/PhD degree in computer science or a related field. 

  • Expertise in Computer Vision (visual positioning, human or object tracking, scene understanding, etc.) and/or Generative AI applications (Vision Language Models).  

  • Hands-on experience in algorithmic development using RGB or RGB-D (e.g. intrinsic/extrinsic calibration, multi-view capture, 3D fusion/reconstruction, motion tracking, etc.) or implementation of advanced approaches (e.g. NeRF/Gaussian Splatting, segmentation models, vision transformers, etc.). 

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and ability to convey results in a clear and precise manner. 

  • Excellent analytical and programming skills in machine learning and deep learning. 

  • Familiar with Python, PyTorch, C/C++, etc. 

  • Preferably you have some experience with research communities and have published papers at conferences.
