Job Description

We are looking for a Data Scientist in the Merchandise Business Unit at Zooplus. You will create insights that influence how we make decisions that have impact at an international scale. Using descriptive predictive and prescriptive analysis methods to unlocking vast business opportunities and translating results into goal-oriented business actions.

You will be working on a variety of new challenges and interesting projects that tap your interests and strengths while collaborating closely with your stakeholder, such as Product Management, Marketing, Markets, Management and IT. Good communication skills, especially with non-technical colleagues, would be a strong asset.

Your job responsibilities as Data Scientist include:

  • Developing custom analytics models to generate insights that drive value for our customers and unlock competitive advantage for our organization, with a focus on white box models.
  • Working closely with stakeholders in translating challenging retail business problems and our stakeholders needs into the Data Science Domain, selecting the best fit for structured & unstructured and complex data.
  • Advising them in interpreting generated insights, also using dashboards and deriving concrete business decisions having a real impact.
  • Perform exploratory analysis including hypothesis testing, statistical inference, and statistical analysis (predictive and/or prescriptive) , including ad-hoc analysis on specific topics

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • University degree computer science, mathematics, statistics or similar.
  • More than three years of work experience in Data Science and Statistics.
  • More than three years of experience in working with datasets that do not fit in memory.
  • First experience with White Box and Bayesian Models.
  • Experience using Python or a similar scripting languages for statistical modeling.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge.
  • Experience with Tableau and/or PowerBI.
  • Experience using standard open-source statistical packages ranging from numpy over sklearn to pytorch.
  • Being a strong team player ready to work in a startup manner.
  • Very good English (spoken and written)
