Vision

All the recent innovations in the Gen AI space have set the basis for a change in the way we work and how we interact with technology. Gen AI offers an unprecedented ability to understand our requests and generate high quality context in multiple modalities, including text, image, video and music, among others. While the first offerings have had a special focus on the cloud, there is a strong belief that the strongest offerings will leave in the edge, where we can tightly control and isolate personal data access and can reduce execution costs.

HP is heavily investing in this space, from two different angles. First, HP has already launched the first AI PC, a computer with specific accelerators to efficiently run Gen AI models with low energy consumption; HP has a long upcoming roadmap of innovation in it HW. Second, HP is looking at changing the way we interact with computers and other devices; we believe that Gen AI offers us the opportunity of transforming compute into a more intent-centric model, rather than the current apps-centric model. In this context, the AI Lab, within the HP’s Future Technologies and Experiences team (FT&E) is looking at applying state-of-the-art research in Gen AI to the PS product portfolio to create innovative solutions to user needs.

Job details

The AI Lab is looking for an individual to join as the Principal Data Scientist in our HP India R&D team. The team will explore and push the boundaries of the state-of-the-art research in Gen AI, and work with the different BU to bring amazing technology into products. The candidate will be involved in the research and development of generative AI models and will work with other team members and business unit partners to develop proof-of-concept prototypes and help move technologies from research to product. The role will involve research, development and model optimization for edge use cases. The role will involve activities such as synthetic data collection, model error analysis, continuous model improvement and monitoring.

Responsibilities
• Leads organization wide team or teams of other data science professionals in complex projects to mine data using modern tools and programming languages.
• Defines models to uncover patterns and predictions creating business value and innovation.
• Manages and creates relationships with business partners to evaluate and foster data driven innovation, provides domain-specific expertise in cross-organization projects/initiatives.
• Ties insights into effective visualizations communicating business value and innovation potential.
• Works with various stakeholders, including business leaders, engineers, product managers, and data analysts, to identify business problems and develop data-driven solutions.
• Prepares and presents literature, presentations, invention disclosures for peer review & publication in industry data science domain initiatives and conferences.
• Assures insights are communicated regularly and effectively, reviewing designs, models and data compliance.
• Defines, communicates and drives data insights/innovation into the business.
• Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and overall data systems leadership to influence decisions of executive business leadership, development partners, and industry standards groups.
• Provides guidance, training and mentoring to less experienced staff members.

Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in data analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, or a related field.
