The AI-Accelerator Group at Nokia Bell Labs is a unique group within the AI Research lab that strives to bridge the gap between research and practical solutions by developing high impact solutions using cutting edge research innovations in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning and computing. This group is expanding within Nokia Bell Labs Canada. The Applied Research Solutions Developer applies state of the art AI/ML research to develop practical solutions for solving real-world problems.
What you will learn and contribute to
In your work, you will leverage state-of-the-art research to build integration-ready solutions with real-world applicability, working closely with Bell Labs Researchers and external partners in academia and industry. As part of this mission-focused team, you will:
- Take the time to understand real-world challenges across different sectors, particularly in telecommunications, data centers, and industrial automation.
- Explore state-of-the-art innovations in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computing and identify their applicability to address real-world challenges.
- Quickly design, build, and implement innovative solutions and pipelines that can be seamlessly integrated into real-world systems and platforms.
- Collaborate with other researchers in Nokia Bell Labs and external partners,
- Manage individual priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Generate intellectual property through the patenting of ideas.
- Publish in industry track conferences and journals.
Your skills and experience
You have:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in Telecommunications and networking fundamentals, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Applied Mathematics
- Proven 1+ years of experience (academic or industrial) in at least 3 of the following fundamental skills:
- AI/ML: Fundamentals, Deep Learning, and/or Reinforcement Learning
- Network: Fundamentals, Protocols, Devices, Monitoring, Security
- Data: Data Structures & Algorithms, Databases (relational & non-relational), Big Data Technologies
- Programming: Python, Version Control (Git), Testing & Debugging
- Architecture and Compute: Microservices, API Design, CUDA
- DevOPs: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, CI/CD, Scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), Monitoring & Logging
- Willingness to contribute with creative, out-of-the-box solutions, to problems arising in a dynamic environment, under high market pressure
- The ability to understand and communicate key underlying ideas, concepts, and associated problems in complex research papers and system reports.
It would be nice if you also had:
- Experience in one or more of these advanced topics:
- Digital Twins: Omniverse, Unity, 3D Modeling, uncertainty modeling
- Networks: Anomaly Detection, Performance Optimization, Capacity Planning, Automation, Troubleshooting
- Generative AI: Large language models, Chain of Thought prompting
- Time series analysis and Causal Reasoning
- Excellent track record of research impact through product or service creation, publications, and patents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
