Your Opportunity

Forming part of the AI Labs team this role will play a key role in bringing to life next-generation AI through the development of prototypes and proof of concepts (POCs) to identify potential new business opportunities for the firm and our clients.  The role will also provide input into AI-related strategy at a firmwide level and support research into responsible AI as appropriate. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build prototypes & POCs in next-gen AI
    • Assist in driving the execution of a plan to explore, identify and test hypotheses using next gen AI to help create new businesses.
    • Based on the hypotheses and use case, contribute to appropriate tech stack decisions for development.
    • Develop on a cloud platform, like Microsoft Azure, or work with tech startups to support the execution of these hypotheses through development of prototypes and POCs. You will work across the entire AI lifecycle from data modelling, data set and database creation to model deployment leveraging your knowledge of cloud, databases, and APIs.
    • Capture learnings, iterate, and improve experimentation processes.
  • Develop a roadmap for the application of next-gen AI
    • Enthusiastically familiarise yourself with future tech, new tech tools and domain expertise to understand emerging AI capability.  Be curious about how the tech works algorithmically and what would be required for implementation.
    • Assist in identifying where and how future tech and new tech tools can create new opportunities for the firm and our clients. 
    • Experiment with and integrate new tech tools in prototypes and POCs to assess their value and limitations.  This includes both high and low code tech tools.
    • With these insights, contribute to research into next gen AI that will inform thought leadership.
  • Work with stakeholders within the firm and client(s)
    • Keep stakeholders up to date with progress and challenges, ensuring they understand the risks as well as the opportunities.
    • Work with stakeholders to understand the business context around the prototype and POC you develop and clearly articulate their required support for successful completion.
    • Assist in demo sessions to get stakeholder feedback and validate development direction.
  • Build credibility in Future Tech
    • Assist engagement with tech and research industry to build knowledge, relationships and establish the firm as a Future Tech leader.
    • Assist engagement with partners and alliances to form relationships that support development, enhance the firms positioning and helps to inform new business opportunity ideas.

Your Experience:

  • Prior experience working within next-gen AI as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Engineer, or Software Developer.
  • Experience designing, creating and orchestrating end-to-end data pipelines on a cloud platform, preferably Microsoft Azure, including:
    • Ingestion of structured & unstructured data sources,
    • Feature engineering for ML development,
    • Machine learning model training,
    • Model deployment. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Python, Java and C++, coupled with the ability to leverage SDKs and APIs to bring the best of tech all together.
  • Comfortable working with various development environments such as cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure) or third parties (tech start-ups) to choose and use the appropriate services to create end-to-end data pipelines.
  • You are a collaborative developer who leverages code base (DevOps) to use version control (git) and document their work (wiki, confluence) on the go to enable the rest of their team.
  • Familiarity with front end development frameworks (e.g. React.JS) will be looked upon favourably.
  • Ability to develop prototypes, pilots, and proof of concepts (POC).

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification (bachelor’s degree) in computer science, software development or similar.
  • Additional qualifications related to artificial intelligence, machine learning and/or data engineering will be considered favourably.
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure (or other cloud platform) certifications considered favourably.
