Are you an innovator and problem solver who can help bridge the gap between the future of our energy grid and analytics? Our team works on assisting utilities modernize the electric grid by integrating the growing share of renewable energy and exploring other strategies to meet the energy needs of the 21st century. We are looking for a Data Science Intern to be part of our analytics and product development team focused on building tools that will power and advise our clients with the most cutting-edge technology available in the Flexible Load Management and Distributed Energy Resources industries. You will be an integral member of our agile team responsible for the creation and development of unique data analytic applications and data products. You will not only create analytic tools but also use those tools to address client challenges. 

 

Our 2024 Summer Internship is a 10-week, full-time program that generally begins in early June and concludes in early-August. The internship can be fully-remote from any U.S. location. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance for this internship.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Build robust models using Python to solve critical client challenges and develop internal tools 

  • Collaborate with the data engineering and visualization teams for client deliverables  

  • Help to strategize how our team can develop solutions on time and in budget 

  • Deliver a presentation of your work to colleagues at the end of your internship 

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, management information systems, or related field 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with statistical data analysis, experimental design, and hypothesis validation 

  • Knowledge of open-source data science languages such as Python and/or tools such as NumPy and Pandas, and with general application programming and database concepts including writing complex SQL scripts 

  • Understanding of how to build data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Apache Spark (preferably Databricks) and with Data Build Tool (DBT) 

  • Familiarity or experience with data cleaning and standardization best practices; ability to efficiently prepare data for machine learning and predictive processes 

  • Knowledge of data modeling, data warehouse/data mart design, development, and testing 

  • Experience with containerization platforms, such as Docker 

  • Azure certifications

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
