The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is looking for recent graduates to join the 2025 cohort of Graduate Interns. Joining us is not just about launching your international career, it is about doing meaningful work for the public good and serving the global community.About the Information Governance & Management team:The IGM team is tasked with developing and implementing a bank wide information management framework and governance structure. The aim is to embed sound information and data governance and management principles and practices in the Bank’s ways of working. As part of its mandate, the IGM team designs and delivers operational information management functions in the areas of i.e. records management and historical archives (including digital preservation).By joining the graduate internship programme in the General Secretariat you will:o Have the opportunity to work in an international financial institution that works for and with the global central bank community.o Gain practical experience in the management and digital preservation of institutionally and historically valuable records and data.o Work with global professionals within a stimulating and diverse organisational culture that emphasises effective collaboration, high-quality output and attention to detail.Principal accountabilities:o In close collaboration with information specialists contribute to developing and implementing records categorisation and digital archiving processes and solutions at the BIS.o Analyse and describe the current status of digital recordkeeping and preservation at the BIS across multiple systems and storage platforms (incl shared drives, email, EDRMS).o Map and develop processes to optimize current digital record-keeping.o Design, implement and maintain tools and processes to categorize and select digital records for permanent preservation taking into account personal data protection and confidentiality requirements. Explore the role AI can play in this.o Help select, design and implement a digital preservation system at the BIS and define requirements for its integration with the Bank’s records management system.Programme duration: 11 monthsProgramme location: Basel, SwitzerlandProgramme start date: October 2025Qualifications, skills and experience:o Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. information science, archival studies) completed in 2024 or 2025.o Strong analytical skills.o Familiarity with archival standards, digital preservation standards and digital archiving best practices.o Passion for AI applications and digital archiving software and tools.What we offer:The contract is for 11 months (non-renewable).
