Your role

Reporting to the Head of Analytics, you as Data Scientist will be supporting us with our ambitions in data analytics, predictive modelling and data quality improvements. You’ll help to support the ambitious growth & profitability targets. We have recently launched an initiative to enhance the technical excellence in all core insurance domains like underwriting, sales, operations, and claims of all lines of business (Automotive, Travel, Assistance and Health). As part of this initiative a team is developing state-of-the-art analytical models in cooperation with the subject matter experts in the lines of business, hence we need you with your high expertise in data analysis and modelling.

Key responsibilities

As data scientist you will be supporting our activities regarding data analysis, the design of data-driven solutions, as well as the actual development of machine learning models: 

  • Analysis of the business problem and the current data situation in close collaboration with the respective subject matter experts 
  • Design of innovative data-driven solutions with focus on data quality and predictive data modelling based on internal and external data sources 
  • Development and validation of prototypes and discussion of results with stakeholders 
  • ­Participation in internal & interdisciplinary projects 
  • Collaboration with colleagues from international operating entities, hub functions as well as other Allianz Partners or Allianz Group departments on ad-hoc basis


What you bring

  • Master’s student in mathematics, data science, statistics or a similar degree with focus on data sciences 
  • Proficient user of Python and SQL as well as of Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); additional programming languages and knowledge of BI tools of advantage 
  • In depth expertise in data analysis and the application of machine learning 
  • Experience in developing (prototypes of) models in Python 
  • Willingness to think out-of-the box and search for external data to improve model quality 
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills (i.e. communication, presentation and negotiation)
  • Excellent verbal and written English required
