Vice President, Data and AI Governance
Position Summary:
Are you ready to join a highly innovative organization that is transforming healthcare at scale? We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Data and AI Governance to join our team and work on advancing Tom, our Agentic AI platform to deliver Primary Care as a Service. Tom is at the forefront of healthcare innovation and this role will be a key role in Tom’s vision setting and leadership. This role will report directly to our Chief Legal Officer, sits at the intersection of technology and compliance, and will play a critical role in shaping and implementing our data governance strategy. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data governance, compliance, and risk management, particularly within the healthcare sector. As the VP of Data and AI Governance, you will ensure that our data management and AI practices adhere to legal and regulatory requirements while ensuring that they continue driving data quality, security, and innovation across the organization.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing an enterprise-wide data governance strategy including AI generated data. Your expertise will guide the company's approach to data management, influencing everything from data quality assurance to protection and utilization.
This position demands an innovative thinker with the technical acumen in data and AI, someone willing to roll up their sleeves to collaborate with key stakeholders, and an understanding of AI model nuances and generative capabilities to drive data governance initiatives and enhance the organization's ability to leverage data for products and for internal strategic decision-making. Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Maintaining and sharing insider knowledge about “institutional data processes” by coaching or training others.
- Evolve our frameworks for the governance of AI models, especially around accuracy and bias, and collaborate with Engineering on the continued evolution of AI monitoring systems.
- Develop processes for ensuring that data used for training AI models meets high standards in accuracy, relevance, copyright, and non-bias.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, engineering, and business units, to ensure seamless integration of data governance policies and procedures. Matching the rules and standards for Data Governance maintenance to business needs
- Serve as a subject matter expert on data and AI governance, providing guidance and support to the organization on legal and regulatory data requirements.
- Monitor evolving industry trends and changes in regulatory compliance related to data governance and privacy, advising the organization on necessary adjustments.
- Prepare and present data governance reports to executive leadership and the board of directors, as well as customers, highlighting key findings, risks, and recommendations for improvement.
- Applying Data Governance rules and standards to meet or exceed an acceptable threshold for Data Quality
- Lead data-related risk management initiatives, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Assist others and cultivate buy-in when an enterprise embarks on new initiatives
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees to foster a culture of data stewardship and ensure understanding of data governance policies.
- Drive accountability for business data content ownership in QA processes that supports and informs technical QA workflows and controls.
- Create, communicate, and implement policies and procedures to drive the Company’s vision, mission and operational data and analytics direction.
- Proactively identify technical capability deficits in the business operations team and provide training and testing for consistency.
Qualifications
- 10+ years leading a Business Analytics Strategy, Operational Business Intelligence Strategy or Data Management
- Experience designing and leading data governance initiatives in complex organizational environments
- Proven experience (5+ years) in data governance, or related roles, preferably within the healthcare or technology industry.
- Proven experience in AI development and governance, and expertise in various AI technologies and the impact on data
- Strong knowledge of healthcare data regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA, GDPR, and other relevant legal standards
- Proven success working across multiple functional areas within an organization to successfully incorporate new business strategy, regulatory guidelines and technical documentation to grow and scale a well-established and rapidly growing organization.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Able to lead through Influence. Manages multiple tasks, be detail oriented, responsible and show a high level of critical thinking.
- Proven experience presenting and interacting with customers
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written/technical documentation), organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment that is undergoing change.

The hiring range for this position is:
$203,000.00-$295,250.00
