Performs all requested Ultrasound examinations per the American Hospital Dubai and Medical Imaging Department guidelines. Conducts various ultrasound imaging procedures, including those related to OB/GYN, Abdominal, small parts, Vascular, Neonatal, Musculoskeletal, and Interventional areas. Participates in the coordination of the Departmental Quality Improvement and Education Programs, attends staff meetings, and contributes to unit projects. Schedules patients, evaluates critical and emergency procedures, and collaborates with radiologists to meet procedural needs. Performs safety checks, assists in incident/accident follow-up and patient complaint resolution, and maintains a clean and hygienic work area. Contributes to the effective and safe operation of the Ultrasound suite.

  • Performs all requested Ultrasound examinations by the American Hospital Dubai and Medical Imaging Departmental guidelines.
  • Performs Ultrasound procedures; which include instructing and manipulating patients, selecting techniques and calibrating equipment, to obtain high-quality images.
  • Schedules patients for Ultrasound examinations if required. Evaluate the nature of critical and emergency procedures and arrange patient priorities to accommodate them in conjunction with Radiologist instructions.
  • Assists the Technical Director of the Medical Imaging Department with the coordination of the Departmental Quality Improvement and Education Programs.
  • Participates in staff meetings and unit projects, and implements/evaluates creative approaches to meeting goals
  • Performs additional duties as specified by the immediate Team Leader.
  • Performs and monitors safety checks on patients, employees and visitors to comply with the safety regulations in the Ultrasound speciality. Include duties that can be performed independently (POCT for clinical staff Include duties that must be performed under supervision and clearly define which supervision).
  • Assists with follow-up of Incidents/Accidents and Patient Complaints as directed by the Chief Of Medical Imaging and Technical Director.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Reviews the request and previous studies before performing the examination.
  • Cleans, stocks, and check the operation of equipment and accessory devices for safety daily in rostered areas. Clean and tidy rooms at the end of all shifts.
  • Works closely with the radiologists to cater for all procedural needs and requirements.
  • Observes all safety measures in the specialized areas (e.g. Ultrasound safety screening form).
  • Performs any additional duties as required, administration duties assist with filing, clerical and scheduling wherever possible as required by the Technical Director.
  • Assists the Technical Director of the Medical Imaging Department with the coordination of the Departmental Quality Improvement and Education Programs.
  • Participates in staff meetings and unit projects, and implements/evaluates creative approaches to meeting goals.
  • Performs and monitors safety checks on patients, employees and visitors to comply with the safety regulations in the suite.
  • Assists with follow-up of Incidents/Accidents and Patient Complaints as directed by the Chief Of Medical Imaging and Technical Director.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and hygienic – by disinfecting machines and accessories regularly – keeping food and drinks away from work areas – personal items out of sight.
  • Performs Ultrasound procedures as required by the Medical Imaging Department, OB/GYN, Abdominal, small parts, Vascular, Neonatal, Musculoskeletal and Interventional procedures.
  • Performs all requested radiographic examinations according to the departmental guidelines or Radiologist instructions.
  • Reviews the request and previous studies before performing the examination.
  • Works closely with the Radiologists to cater for all procedural needs and requirements.
  • Schedules patients for Ultrasound examinations if required.
  • Evaluates the nature of critical and emergency procedures and arranges patient priorities to accommodate them in conjunction with Radiologist instructions.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound/Sonography/Medical Imaging/Radiography or 
  • Associate Degree/Diploma in Ultrasound with Registration/certification or accreditation as a Radiographer/Sonographer
  • Active home country registration
  • Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as Ultrasound Technologist
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, human physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of radiation, magnetic protection, and safety
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) or accreditation standards
  • Knowledge of Middle East Culture and Customs
  • Ability to remain sensitive to the needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and Ultrasound techniques
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently
