Summary

An Engineering Data Traffic Technician is a key member of our Portable Traffic Data Collection division, to be based in the Georgia metro area, strongly preferred.  Our Engineering technicians are responsible for performing all types of traffic studies including automated classification and volume counts using pneumatic tubes or non-intrusive video-based AI technology and turning movement counts using video systems.  Each week, a technician will be required to install road tubes or camera systems at up to 50 different locations across their coverage area.  This will require maintaining a stock of between 50 and 60 portable event recorders, maintaining a company-owned and insured vehicle, safely driving to and parking along the roadway, and installing equipment in or alongside the roadway.  This is a physical job which requires you to be aware of your surroundings at all times.   Safety is our top priority! Good time management, extensive travel will be required to near by cities and states, willingness to travel, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail are essential.

The Contribution:

  • Safely install all assigned equipment at sites located across the coverage area
  • Review assigned tasks for the week, check the weather, and devise a plan to complete the work
  • Maintain the working condition of all assigned equipment by replacing batteries and other parts as needed
  • Notify manager of any issues that arise throughout the week
  • Operate and park the vehicle safely and legally at all times
  • Maintain vehicle’s working condition and physical appearance
  • Upload all data to FTP site

  • Proof of High school diploma or GED required 
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Role will require cleared background verification, employment history, education confirmation, no criminal history record and drug testing 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Willingness to travel in-state and out-of-state on a weekly basis
  • Individuals must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record and must be able to drive a company vehicle
  • Able to work outdoors in fluctuating weather conditions
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and mobile devices
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, and lift 40 pounds
  • Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow directions, evaluate problems, and prioritize tasks
