ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about technology and healthcare? Join our Berlin-based medtech startup on a mission to transform radiology with AI-powered software. Our CE-certified products, mdbrain, mdprostate and mdknee, already lead the European market in automated MRI analysis. As we rapidly expand our product portfolio, we look for a Technical Product Owner who will dive deep into both machine learning and product development challenges in order to bridge the gap between real-world user needs and AI technology.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shape the product direction: Align with product management on the strategic product roadmap.
  • Drive execution: Break down the roadmap into actionable milestones, sprints and clear, well-specified and prioritised tickets, and take full ownership for their delivery.
  • Own sprint planning: Drive timely delivery of product milestones through effective sprint planning and backlog management.
  • Be the technical anchor: Maintain a deep technical understanding of our AI solutions to guide architectural discussions in the dev team and to contribute hands-on technical work when needed.
  • Act as tech liaison: Serve as the central contact point across development teams and stakeholders for all technical questions about the product.
  • Ensure compliance: Collaborate with the regulatory team and QA to ensure compliance with medical device standards, including working on the technical documentation.
  • Support team growth: Mentor and guide team members in their technical and professional development.

YOUR BACKGROUND

  • 3+ years of experience in the field of machine learning (in industry or academia); less experience is also welcome for junior-level candidates — ideally with exposure to medical imaging.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Interest or experience in product ownership, team leadership, and mentoring others.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and their practical application.
  • Familiar with version control, unit testing, and continuous integration; committed to clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Clear, concise communicator — able to bridge technical and non-technical teams.
  • Independent thinker who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and prioritizes collaboration over ego.
NICE TO HAVE:
  • UX understanding and use of prototyping tools like Figma.
  • Experience with medical imaging standards (DICOM, PACS, RIS) and/or regulations.
  • Experience and knowledge of SCRUM framework and agile ways of working.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Focus on what matters: At our company, competence, personality, and commitment are more important than formalities or the study program you chose.
  • Your Impact: Your work helps make disease diagnosis faster, more precise, and more manageable.
  • Your Team: Join a highly motivated, interdisciplinary team with fast decision-making processes and a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Freedom to choose: Work remotely or from our office in Berlin-Kreuzberg—whatever suits you best.
  • Benefits: Use your personal benefits budget flexibly and choose the perks that suit you best!
