Job Description:

The Slingshot technical product manager role is responsible for the identification, creation and delivery of product requirements, benchmarking and sales enablement materials for the Slingshot Product Management team.

About the Job

  • Focused on the CPU/GPU server side of the Slingshot solution and the applications, workloads and AI/HPC frameworks that run on them.

  • Perform and collaborate in benchmarking activities for AI/HPC workloads and interpret the results into internal and external consumable information.

  • Familiar with HPC/AI frameworks (verbs, libfabric) and can work with the R&D team to identify enhancements of the Slingshot components of the server software solution.

  • Understands the role of the network in high performance HPC and AI systems and works closely with the rest of the Product Management team to improve the Slingshot solution.

  • Represents the Slingshot Product Management team to other product groups inside HPE, to sales teams as well as customers and industry partners.

  • Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods, works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.

  • Oversees and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives.

  • Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies.

  • Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.

  • May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.

  • Part of a larger Product Management team responsible for the Slingshot portfolio, and is expected to drive and represent these Slingshot based technologies as part of the overall Slingshot portfolio and go-to-market strategies and implementations

How You'll Make Your Mark

  • Oversees and drives all the application, workload and AI/HPC framework efforts for the Slingshot Product Management team, including product requirements, benchmarking, sales collateral, internal documentation, etc.

  • Defines the value proposition, target customer segments, and business case to bring one or more innovative and solutions to market with respect to the Slingshot portfolio

  • Synthesizes technical requirements into marketing/customer details through having intimate customer knowledge

  • Advises key stakeholders on the portfolio strategy across all phases of the lifecycle (e.g., planning, development, launch, management, exit).

  • Creates and drives goal alignment and collaborates across the solution value chain partners to optimize margins and enable success of solutions per plans across the product lifecycle. (ie. Engineering: product development, Supply Chain:  SKUs, inventory and Marketing:  marketing and pricing strategies and Go To Market Plan)

  • Creates and maintains relationships with other HPE business units, and outside companies to create and implement software integrations based on Slingshot

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering or related field of study. MBA or advanced degree in computer science or engineering preferred.

  • 5 + years of work experience with high performance compute or AI systems

  • Technical understanding and knowledge of HPC and AI market and their network interconnects

  • Excellent knowledge of the high end interconnect market and solutions

  • Expert team skills and ability to cross functionally drive/influence work through others, ability to mentor and lead teams to achieve results for complex, ambiguous projects.

  • Expert skills in cost efficient solution building, performance metric creation and analysis.

  • Expert business acumen and knowledge of root cause analysis and problem detection.

  • Technical understanding and knowledge of HPC and AI market and their network interconnects
