Meet the Team:

At Torc, the mission of our Technical Product Managers (TPM) is to accelerate technological development, increase the quality of our internal products and services, and optimize resource efficiency. Our TPMs don’t just manage roadmaps—they play a critical role in driving this mission forward. This role is for a proactive leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering, product, and business strategy, turning high-level objectives into tangible results. You will be the driving force behind key outcomes, ensuring teams are set up for success while advocating for engineering excellence.

As a TPM at Torc, you’ll have the ownership and autonomy to solve complex challenges, optimize execution, and influence decision-making at the highest levels. You’ll work closely with engineering leaders, executives, and cross-functional teams to align on priorities, streamline development, and deliver high-impact solutions. What You'll Do:

Our TPMs play a pivotal role in turning strategy into execution, ensuring teams are aligned, risks are managed, and development runs smoothly. Here’s how you’ll drive impact at Torc by:

Accelerating Technological Development

  • Own the Roadmap and Drive Execution – Define and communicate the engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment across teams while balancing business and technical priorities.
  • Translate Strategy into Impact – Break down high-level company objectives into clear, actionable development plans that drive measurable outcomes.
  • Lead Product Development Reviews – Represent development progress to leadership, synthesize shifting priorities, and proactively address roadblocks.
  • Champion Agile Practices – Guide teams in adopting agile methodologies that improve efficiency, iteration speed, and collaboration.

Increasing the Quality of Our Internal Products and Services

  • Advocate for Engineering Excellence – Ensure engineering enablement initiatives are prioritized alongside product goals to drive long-term scalability and efficiency.
  • Drive Risk and Dependency Management – Track and mitigate risks while managing cross-team dependencies to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Ensure Process Efficiency – Drive adherence to backlog intake, change management, and other critical workflows that optimize development lifecycles.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration – Build trust and transparency between engineering, product, and business teams to streamline execution.

Optimizing Resource Efficiency

  • Manage Capacity and Identify Bottlenecks – Maintain visibility into team velocity, proactively identify constraints, and secure resources to sustain execution momentum.
  • Set Clear Workloads and Priorities – Ensure engineering teams have well-defined, outcome-driven workstreams that support roadmap execution.
  • Elevate TPM Excellence – Align best practices across TPMs, ensuring consistency in execution, planning, and stakeholder communication.
  • Mentor & Develop Teams – Empower TPMs and engineering teams through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and skill-building opportunities.
  • Celebrate & Reinforce Success – Recognize individual and team achievements, fostering a culture of ownership, impact, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Need to Succeed: 

  • Demonstrates competences and technical proficiencies typically acquired through:
    • BS+ 4+ years of experience OR MS+ 3+ years of experience
    •  
  • 4+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Technical Product Manager, or Technical Program Manager in autonomous vehicles, robotics, automotive, or similar industries.
  • Proven ability to lead complex programs with minimal supervision, aligning engineering, product, and business teams to drive execution.
  • Experience managing cross-functional challenges across hardware, software, and system integration.
  • Strong stakeholder management, execution, and risk mitigation skills in fast-paced, high-impact environments.
  • Hands-on experience with product development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and driving teams toward measurable outcomes.
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools, including Jira for project management, Confluence for documentation, and tools for brainstorming and visual collaboration, such as Miro.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working in vehicle hardware development and system integration with:
    • Experience with full vehicle system architecture and design. 
    • Experience integrating perception sensors (Lidars, cameras, radars, etc) or navigation systems (GNSS, INS, IMU, etc). 
    • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, or data systems (CAN,Ethernet, etc)
    • Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering design practices for systems or products exposed to harsh outdoor environments. 
    • Ability to coordinate platform bring-up, system integration, and validation of vehicle operations. 
    • Experience working with hardware, software, and test teams to ensure platform deployment and operational readiness. 
    • Experience supporting vehicle fleet expansion, including hardware iteration planning and operational commissioning.
