Role Overview:

The SVP of Engineering will lead Tubi's engineering efforts across Discovery & AI. You will drive innovation in personalized recommendations, search, and content intelligence, providing viewers with seamless, intuitive ways to discover and watch the content they love. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with product, data science, design, and engineering leaders, and oversee multiple engineering teams focused on improving user personalization and content discovery.

This leadership position is pivotal to delivering best-in-class personalization and driving engagement through machine learning-powered user experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and scale engineering teams focused on personalized content recommendations, AI/ML-driven discovery experiences, and search functionality.
  • Drive the technical strategy for Tubi, partnering with cross-functional leaders in product, data science, and design to deliver engaging, user-friendly experiences.
  • Oversee the engineering function across multiple areas, including:
    1. New User Personalization: Leverage AI/ML to quickly learn and serve content tailored to first-time users.
    2. Returning User Personalization: Enhance recommendations for repeat users through advanced deep learning methods.
    3. Content Understanding: Analyze and categorize content to effectively match it with the right audiences.
    4. Search: Develop a best-in-class search engine optimized for video entertainment.
    5. Discovery Experiences: Reduce decision friction and improve content discovery to enhance viewer retention.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within engineering teams, ensuring a high level of execution and technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to align engineering priorities with strategic goals and long-term vision.
  • Define and track key performance metrics to measure the success of personalization, search, and discovery initiatives.
  • Advocate for modern engineering practices and champion the adoption of AI/ML-driven technologies that enhance user experience.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 8 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams within high-growth tech environments, particularly in AI/ML or personalization technology.
  • Expertise in AI/ML technologies, including deep learning, recommendation systems, and large-scale data processing.
  • Experience delivering personalized content discovery solutions, search functionality, or related machine learning systems for consumer-facing digital platforms.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, data science, and design.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a focus on driving alignment across engineering teams and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.) and modern engineering tools and practices.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is listed annually below. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, long-term incentive plan, and various benefits including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.

California and Seattle, WA Compensation

$550,000 to $600,000 / year + Bonus + Long-Term Incentive Plan + Benefits
