At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we may not be developing swords against the dark side of the Force, but our developments often sound like science fiction. This is because we are shaping the technologies and processes for the future of digital production, packaging and scanning technology and many other laser-based applications, such as 3D printing and laser fusion.
In the “Data Science and Metrology” department, we pursue an integrative approach to increasing productivity, efficiency and quality in laser-based manufacturing. Our interdisciplinary team works together in the groups “Process Sensors and Systems Engineering”, “Material Analytics” and “Computational Methods”. We use our expertise in data science, modeling and systems engineering to develop tailor-made solutions. These range from sensor technology, data acquisition and analysis to adaptive cyber-photonic systems. We also research digital solutions in conjunction with modern laser beam sources and optical systems. Our aim is to create disruptive innovations and new business models by combining the real and digital worlds.
To strengthen our Process Sensors and Systems Engineering group, we are looking for student assistants (m/f/d) to support us in the realization of adaptive, self-learning systems for laser material processing.
