Alstom's strategy in data science and artificial intelligence focuses on applying advanced data-driven algorithms to develop solutions aimed at smarter mobility. In this context, we are working on creating innovative solutions around machine learning and artificial intelligence for data enhancement. Within Alstom's Data Science and AI team, you will participate in the development of such subsystems as an intern, contributing to the advancement of technologies that will transform the urban mobility landscape.

Main objectives:

Development, fine-tuning, and validation of machine learning methods on real data from railway equipment.

Short-term:

During the first few weeks, the intern will dedicate their time to the following main activities:

  • Familiarizing themselves with documentation useful for understanding the train and its environment.
  • Getting acquainted with the Data Science and AI methodology used by Alstom.
  • Establishing a detailed production schedule for deliverables following a standard model.

Mission description:

As a student in an engineering/computer science school with experience in artificial intelligence, you are proactive and willing to work in an international and multidisciplinary team. You will contribute to the development of innovative tools powered by artificial intelligence, applied to data collected from trains and other railway systems, to support improved decision-making in targeted processes. The proposed internship will focus mainly on the application of artificial intelligence in modeling railway subsystems. You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • prganizing and structuring data into formats suitable for analysis
  • cleaning data to improve its quality
  • implementing data augmentation methods
  • participating in the design and development of AI algorithms, such as "Physics-informed neural networks," and other methods
  • collaborating on the project with Data Science teams and subject matter experts to ensure that the findings are relevant and useful
  • creating appropriate dashboards to make the results readable and actionable
  • writing technical documentation for code and algorithms

We are looking for a student:

  • Education level: BAC+4 / BAC+5
  • Technical skills:
    • proficiency in Python and data visualization libraries
    • knowledge of machine learning algorithms, particularly for time series data
    • practical understanding of neural networks and application of deep learning algorithms
    • strong knowledge of probability and statistics
    • analytical mindset, rigor, and good communication skills. You are organized, responsive, have good interpersonal skills, and enjoy working in a team.
    • proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.

6 months intership, starting february/march 2025
