Physical accuracy validation for virtual simulation in automotive

Summary / Role Purpose

In the context of our Autonomous Vehicle sensors & headlamp simulation (our AVXcelerate products line), we offer a realistic simulation of perception systems. It is critical for Ansys to validate the quality of models and to prove physical accuracy of simulation. However, it is not a trivial problem, since reference data is difficult to access (need a fleet of vehicles to collect it) and to replicate in a virtually simulated world. It is thus important to propose an indirect approach using relevant metrics and assessing not only output information, but the input one as well. The goal of the internship is to construct such a kind of metric.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, your key activity will be to:

  • Study and propose a relevant metric for simulation assessment

  • Construct a relevant GT and simulation datasets

  • Assess the performances of the simulation

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Student of Master 2 level in system engineering, signal processing or applied maths.
  • First experience in automotive or ADAS is a plus

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Theoretical knowledge:

  • Good knowledge in modeling, identification, statistics

  • Good understanding of physics or sensors

  • Image (signal) processing or machine learning is a plus

Programming:

  • Python, Matlab, R or another data analysis tool

  • Notions of C# or C++

Details
