Persona AI is developing and commercializing rugged, multi-purpose humanoid robots that perform real work. Persona’s founding team has a decades-long history in humanoid robotics, bionics, and product development delivering robust hardware that has touched the stars, worked miles below the surface of the ocean, roamed Disney Parks, and has even been featured on a US postage stamp. Our mission is focused squarely on shipping beautiful, reliable products at massive scale, while building a customer-focused team to achieve these aims.
We're looking for exceptional people who dream big, thrive on challenges, and love seeing their designs come to life. We are primarily interested in candidates who have shipped products in the fields of autonomy, robotics, consumer products, medical devices, automotive, or aerospace. We also value advanced degrees and deep expertise.
As an inaugural engineer at Persona, you will have an incredible opportunity to shape the design of Persona’s humanoid robots, while also helping set the culture of the company. If you're passionate about cutting-edge technology and want to be part of a world-class team we'd love to hear from you.
How will you be part of the team?
Work closely with the engineering team to conceptualize, specify, and implement electrical architectures for various robotic platforms to include robotic manipulators and humanoid robotic systems.
Develop circuit designs and lay out schematics, PCBs, and wiring diagrams for robotic hardware.
Generate documentation for the designs, as well as block diagrams, test plans and procedures, and fabrication and assembly drawings.
Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electrical components into complete robotic systems.
Interface with external manufacturing teams to enhance design for test, manufacturing, and assembly.
Implement and optimize motor control algorithms for various robotic systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
Evaluate and select components and materials to meet project requirements.
Conduct simulations and performance analyses to optimize system functionality.
What does an ideal background look like?
Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Ideally 7+ years experience (5+ with advanced degree) designing and developing electrical systems for robotics or automation.
Strong knowledge of embedded systems, circuit design, and motor control.
Proficiency in CAD tools for circuit design (e.g., Altium, Eagle, or KiCAD).
Experience with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or MATLAB.
Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, and communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, I2C, SPI, CAN).
Experience bringing a product through compliance testing including UL, CSA, FCC, CE, etc.
Documentation experience - will be expected to develop detailed build assembly instructions and diagrams.
Exceptional attention to detail and engineering discipline.
Creative, curious, analytical, and disciplined.
What are additional examples of skills that would make a candidate stand out?
Experience architecting and designing batteries, battery management systems, charger systems, electrochemical simulations.
Experience with high-performance power electronics, including multiphase converters and isolated power supply topologies.
Experience with three-phase PMSM motor control, field-oriented control, flux-weakening control, and overmodulation.
Experience with simulation tools (ex: LTSpice, PSpice, Ansys, Simulink).
