The company is developing an industry-leading artificial intelligence (AI) powered technology stack purpose-built for driverless long-haul trucking applications. Kodiak also leverages its commercial self-driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense. We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer based in the greater Detroit Area to lead our vehicle builds with our external vehicle upfit partners.
In this role, you will:
Create and manage all vehicle build schedules working closely with our Detroit based Upfitter
Work closely with Hardware, Systems and Software teams to help determine manufacturing and testing requirements
Coordinate with Supply Chain and commercial teams to determine and ensure supply of components and vehicles
Identify and evaluate suppliers for both component and vehicle builds
Coordinate documentation requirements with engineering, test and quality teams
Communicate program progress, milestones and potential risks to leadership and overall engineering team
Evaluate and contribute to manufacturing line design and improvements
Lead all manufacturing troubleshooting activities including RCA, Yield improvement and test/automation
Create a plan that gets from 10s to 1000s of vehicles in the coming years
What you'll bring:
7+ years of experience of manufacturing engineering in a complex environment
Proven track record of managing complex system builds
Automotive, trucking or aerospace experience
Hands on manufacturing experience including line bring up, test, fixture design and automation
Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
Proven track record of taking a system from design to scale production
Ability to identify, root cause and lead solutions for issues found on the line and in the field
Lead all DFx efforts in conjunction with our Upfit partner to help build a reliable, cost effective system

The salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$195,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual salary ranges will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
