Location Requirement: This is a hybrid role, requiring at least one day per week in our San Francisco office.

Our Mission

At DeepScribe, we are bringing the joy of care back to medicine by helping AI and healthcare professionals work in harmony. We are leveraging ambient AI to automate documentation and provide real-time insights — allowing clinicians to focus on providing care, not documenting it. Using one of the world’s largest databases of patient conversations, DeepScribe empowers providers by transforming their conversations into fully customizable, detailed clinical notes.

The Role

We’re looking for an exceptional Staff Software Engineer with experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) to help us push the boundaries of what’s possible in healthtech. You’ll be at the forefront of applying state-of-the-art AI to solve real-world healthcare challenges.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design and implementation of our next-generation LLM-powered platform, making critical architectural decisions that will shape the future of our product
  • Collaborate with medical subject matter experts to rapidly prototype and productionize new LLM architectures and techniques
  • Implement innovative solutions for LLM-specific challenges such as prompt engineering, few-shot learning, and efficient inference
  • Architect and implement high-performance, distributed systems that can deliver real-time insights to thousands of healthcare professionals
  • Mentor and guide other engineers in best practices for working with LLMs and building AI-first applications

About you

  • You have a proven track record of technical leadership in building complex, scalable systems at high-growth companies.
  • You have experience working on LLM-powered applications and can understand the unique challenges of working with LLMs at scale
  • You’re comfortable working across the stack and learning whatever you need to ship product
  • You thrive in ambiguity and are excited by the challenge of applying LLMs to novel problems in healthcare
  • You love working directly with end-users and are excited about working with doctors first-hand

Bonus points

  • You have experience applying LLMs in healthcare
  • You’ve contributed to or maintained popular open-source projects related to LLMs

Why DeepScribe?

  • Work on a product that directly impacts people's lives, giving time back to doctors and improving patient care through advanced AI
  • Join a team of talented AI experts and engineers, passionate about solving provider burn-out in healthcare
  • Access to vast amounts of real-world medical data to train and improve cutting-edge language models
  • Competitive benefits and compensation package with significant equity upside
  • HQ in San Francisco, with regular team offsites that bring our distributed team together
  • A culture that values bold ideas, rigorous thinking, and continuous learning in the rapidly evolving field of AI

Company Values

  • Be an independent thinker - form your own opinions, support your opinions with facts and experiments, openly share and stress test your opinions with others, and drive change within the organization with your opinions.
  • Make it happen, fast - Make decisions with conviction. Mistakes are okay; going slow is not. Learning from your mistakes is just as important as making the right decisions.
  • Do what you say - If we all do what we say, we will be successful and avoid adding layers of management. It's also gratifying to work with people you know you can count on.
  • Care more than others - We win because we care more than others. Be there for your team. Be there for your customers. Impress others with how much you care. Take responsibility for DeepScribe and our culture.
