This role will be responsible for the ML solutions spanning all phases of the MDLC in the Collections and Credit domain. This job will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models while also building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers them. This hybrid role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of ML and data engineering while experimenting with the latest GCP and GenAI offerings and other upcoming capabilities.

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter Senior ML Engineer to join our AI/ML Engineering team to help achieve this mission. This role will help shape the next generation of checkout at PayPal impacting over 400+ million consumers and 30+ million merchants worldwide by creating AI/ML foundations and capabilities that deliver a delightful and personalized shopping and checkout experience.

• With a proven track record in technical execution, you'll be instrumental in driving high-quality products and ensuring the successful delivery of projects

Your day to day

• Build and optimize data pipelines for developing training and inferencing ML models in the Collections and Credit domains. The models are developed for various stages in the customer lifecycle (onboarding, acquisition, fraud risk strategies and early/late stage collection models)
• Implement model monitoring, versioning, and retraining strategies
• Ensure data quality, lineage, and governance across ML pipelines
• Collaborate with data scientists, administrators, data analysts, data engineers, and data architects on production systems and applications for Model deployment, monitoring and feature engineering
• Identify differences in data distribution that could potentially affect model performance in real-world applications
• Stay up to date with developments in the machine learning industry and Gen AI offerings
• Run machine learning tests and experiments, and document findings and results
• Construct optimized data pipelines to feed machine learning models
• Consult with managers to determine and refine machine learning objectives

What do you need to bring

• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics, or related field
• Proven experience as a machine learning engineer or similar role
• Familiarity with cloud computing offerings of Google Cloud Platform (BQ and DataProc)
• Tools and Technologies - Python, Java, and Big Data Technologies
• Familiarity with Gen AI offerings for Personalization and Optimization problems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Innovative mind with a passion for continuous learning
• Impeccable analytical and problem-solving skills
• Extensive math and computer skills, with a deep understanding of probability, statistics, and algorithms
• In-depth knowledge of machine learning frameworks
• Extensive Knowledge of building and deploying machine learning systems
• Familiarity with data structures, data modeling, and software architecture
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
