First American is seeking Senior Software Engineer – AI Platform Engineer candidates to grow our team. An ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, a product mindset, and takes a hands-on approach to building high-quality, sustainable software products. As a Senior Software Engineer – AI Platform Engineer, you will lead projects as part of a small, focused engineering delivery team to build fast, clean, reliable code that drives business value for our customers. You will help design and implement our technical architecture, software, and tooling used to deliver and operate our core, mission-critical, AI platform. You will be a part of a transformative team whose mission is to build the AI platform for First American using modern tools, techniques, and cloud-native services.
What You’ll Do:
Technical Leadership: Set the example in driving individual user stories to completion from start to finish.
Assess and identify risks that may be present to achieving the team’s larger goals.
Document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
Collaborate/Partner: Work in tandem with our engineering teams and leaders to identify and implement optimal AI solutions for the company.
Operational Excellence: Implement high-quality, secure, and observable solutions.
Be an active team member, contributing to reviews of designs, code, artifacts, and metrics.
Continuous Improvement: Assist the team in achieving ambitious goals, providing regular feedback, and driving continuous improvement.
You will participate in all aspects of our software development lifecycle for AI solutions, including planning, defining requirements, developing, and testing those solutions with the team.
What You’ll Bring:
5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Any of the following: AWS Cloud Services, Google Cloud Services, or Azure Cloud Services.
Experience driving engineering best practices for high-functioning software engineering teams through effective use of tools and automation.
Passion and expertise for building large-scale, back-end services and APIs using modern architectures (Macro / Mini / Micro Services).
A strong understanding of software engineering principles and modern infrastructure operations.
Ability to build robust, high-scale, generic, and reusable solutions.
Ability to mentor and influence software engineers to share knowledge and improve quality.
Ability to unblock yourself and help accelerate the team in achieving their goals.
Familiarity with deployment and observability strategies that support continuous delivery and high availability in a cloud-native environment.
An outcome-oriented approach using metrics and data to understand development productivity metrics (e.g., code churn, commit size, test coverage, etc.) that inform areas for continuous improvement.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with strong relationship, collaborative, and organizational skills.
Ideally, you will also have experience with:
Containerized development (Docker).
Kubernetes.
Relational (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases.
Automated software testing (unit, integration, contract).
Infrastructure automation tooling such as Terraform and Ansible.
Working within a highly regulated industry such as Financial Services or Healthcare.
Pay Range: $145,000 - $205,000 Annually
This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, and geographic location.
