What you will do:

Sr. Manager, Data Science & Insights

Hybrid work environment 3 days per week from the Cineplex corporate headquarters at 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto (Yonge and St. Clair).

The Sr. Manager, Data Science & Insights will join the Data Insights & Monetization leadership team to enable the organization with industry-leading data science and insights capabilities to optimize the customer experience.

The successful candidate will play a leadership role in evolving the data science models and insights delivery for Cineplex, managing a high-performing team that can execute end-to-end project delivery and adoption, and leading the enablement of best practices and latest data innovation across the wider organization. The Sr. Manager is responsible for developing and delivering the short- and long-term roadmap, building a highly engaged team, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders as the data science and insights subject matter expert to drive incremental business value.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Thought Leadership

  • Develop and evolve the Data Science & Insights vision, strategy, and roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Act as the Data Science and Insights subject matter expert with a deep understanding of models/algorithms, data architecture, data-driven business insights, business processes/operating models, product development launches, as well as technology integrations to deliver value for the organization
  • Establish a Data Science & Insights Community of Practice within Cineplex to facilitate the sharing of standard data science models and capabilities, actionable insights, best practices, and emerging industry-leading innovation

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a team of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Insights Analysts to ensure continuous learning and effective resource management
  • Coach, mentor, and upskill team members to support their personal and professional career goals
  • Set clear and measurable goals and objectives that are aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities, as a team and individual team members

Delivery & Collaboration

  • Responsible for the timely delivery of Data Science & Insights projects and roadmap, including operationalizing models into production for business use
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their needs and communicate findings/solutions to influence business decision-making
  • Communicate overall program milestones, accomplishments, learnings, and opportunities to foster a data-driven culture

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor/Master’s in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related technical specialty

Experience:

  • 7+ years’ experience in data science and insights with demonstrated experience of delivering impactful solutions into operational processes and product development
  • 3+ years’ experience of managing a team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and insights analysts
  • Experience in coding in data cloud technologies (i.e. Azure, Databricks, Snowflake)
  • Experience in digital analytics tools (i.e. Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics)
  • Experience in data visualization tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of data science/machine learning techniques and building/managing predictive and optimization models
  • Proven ability to extract key data insights and effectively influence stakeholders’ business decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey complex concepts in simple terms to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Strong planning, coordination, prioritization, and project/program management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable with managing parallel streams of work with the ability to perform effectively in an environment with many competing demands
  • Effective leadership skills to foster a strong team culture and team development
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a cross-functional, problem-solving environment
