Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our Humanoid is designed for corporate tasks targeting labor shortages and jobs that are undesirable or unsafe. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration.
We are seeking a passionate and driven Electromagnetic Analysis Engineer to join our innovative motor design team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of designing and optimizing cutting-edge electric motors, pushing the boundaries of performance, efficiency, and reliability. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines to deliver exceptional results from concept to production
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of motor design from defining requirements, creating design concepts, driving mechanical design, and overseeing manufacturing and testing
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of in-house motor geometric optimization tools to streamline the design process
- Conduct 2D/3D electromagnetic simulations for loss, torque ripple, and flux density, and validate results through experimental testing
- Work with mechanical, thermal, and control teams to ensure integrated motor system performance
- Research and implement new electromagnetic techniques, materials, and topologies for advanced motor designs
- 3+ years in motor design, electromagnetic analysis, and performance optimization
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of fundamental physics
- MS or PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on electric motors or electromagnetic systems
- Proficiency in FEA tools like JMAG or Ansys Maxwell and a deep understanding of motor topologies
- Proven ability to tackle complex electromagnetic challenges and innovate solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication with experience in cross-functional collaboration
Bonus Qualifications:
- Expertise in high-speed and miniature motor design
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and manufacturing processes for electric motors
- Proficiency in CAD tools like CATIA and vendor management
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $170,000 - $250,000 annually.
