Sr. Data Scientist: Digital Product Owner

What you will do

In this vital role you will be part of Amgen’s Transformative Digital Capabilities(TDC) organization, which is a global process development function at the cutting edge of digital transformation in the biopharmaceutical industry. TDC provides thought leadership and differentiated capabilities in: digital threads for end-to-end data capture, integration, management, and analytics; Utilize cutting edge technologies such as Generative AI, ML, digital twins from empirical, first principles, and hybrid modeling techniques for reduced experimentation and improved process performance; and platforming and stewardship of digital assets, technologies, and processes.

  • Work in collaboration with business owners, system owners, software vendors, scientists/engineers/users, and a broad set of stakeholders, to develop an industry-leading digital thread spanning lab execution systems and data analysis pipelines.
  • The goal of the digital platform is to increase the quality of data assets, increase the efficiency and effectiveness of lab experiments, and unlock novel insights through data science methodologies, to accelerate the advancement of the pipeline.
  • Maintain system level requirements of a digital module(s) within a digital product team.
  • Help drive the overall roadmap and development for the module aligned with the overall strategy for the product.
  • Participate in standard Scrum events.
  • Work closely with the functional area leads and users to understand module enhancements and defects and incorporate them into the roadmap.
  • Experience in supporting Digital solution in Pharma R&D settings is required, and expertise in data engineering or data science is highly desired.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of lab informatics experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 8 years of lab informatics experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of lab informatics experience OR
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of lab informatics experience OR
  • Doctorate degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent command of database fundamentals, including structured and unstructured data (SQL/NoSQL)
  • Good understanding of ontologies, including OWL and SPARQL
  • Working knowledge of big data processing and advanced analytics using Databricks, Redshift
  • Good understanding of Generative AI concepts, tools and applications. Working knowledge is a PLUS
  • Good understanding of Digital twin, IoT tools and applications. Working knowledge is a PLUS
  • Good understanding of ML concepts. Working knowledge is a PLUS
  • Proven data wrangling skills
  • Proficiency in Python programming skills
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, including systems thinking
  • Strong interdisciplinary project management skills
  • Exceptional ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
