Our team designs, deploys, and manages applications and infrastructure that supports Akamai's internal and customer-facing cloud storage platforms. We do this while maintaining Akamai's mission to make life better for billions of people, billions of times a day.

Partner with the best

In this role, you will collaborate with our operations and development teams to build and manage our scalable storage platforms, including Block Storage, Object Storage, and backups. You will create tooling to automate the lifecycle of petabyte-scale storage systems. You'll work with open-source technologies to ensure Akamai's storage systems are highly reliable, highly available, and performant.

As a Site Reliability Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

  • Deploying storage systems to new locations and provisioning all storage-supporting infrastructure
  • Automating repetitive tasks with Bash and Python, increasing the reliability of our storage platforms
  • Partnering with multiple engineering teams to support infrastructure projects, improving the scalability of our storage platforms
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex storage problems within our compute and networking stacks
  • Improving our storage system monitoring and observability, enhancing performance and reliability
  • Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 2 years of experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent experience
  • Have professional experience in a Site Reliability, Development, or Systems Engineering role with Ceph or storage systems
  • Have professional experience with NGINX and reverse proxies, SSL/TLS certificate management, load-balancing, and caching
  • Have experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, or SaltStack
  • Be comfortable writing code with scripting languages, including Python and Bash
  • Have experience troubleshooting Linux systems with tools like tcpdump, iostat, strace, iftop, netstat, and iotop

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $83,800 - $174,200/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
